A day in the life

The beauty of a typical day at OpenText is that it is always different. From receiving and processing purchase orders from our clients to assisting with customer inquiries, the role of a Renewals Account Representative varies heavily on customer activity. As we have a target to reach each quarter, our goal is to ensure that we provide our existing customers their annual maintenance quotes in a timely manner along with continuing to nurture our existing relationships with our customers.

Why did you join?

Coming straight out of University, I was referred by a colleague regarding an open position for a Renewals Account Representative. Upon doing extensive research on OpenText, I felt like it was a perfect opportunity to start my career here and grow with the company. Needless to say, OpenText continues to grow and continues to be a market leader.

What do you like best?

One of things I enjoy about my role is that I can learn something new almost daily. Whether it is learning about new contract terms or learning how to negotiate, the opportunity for self-learning is what makes this job so enjoyable.

Why did you decide to work in Renewals?

The feeling of being able to help someone has always resonated with me, no matter how small or large the problem is. As a Renewals Account Representatives, we represent OpenText, which means we are the ones that our existing clients reach out to during their time of need. With each scenario being different, working in customer support has taught me how to handle different situations and provide the best outcome for our customers.

How would you describe the OpenText culture in Canada?

Diversity. Inclusion. Cohesiveness. That is what Canada is all about and it trickles down to our renewals team here in Richmond Hill, Canada. There is always a sense of belonging no matter which product line you work in and I believe it is because of the culture that has been set at OpenText. From day one, everyone has always been willing to help and that extends out to our customers as well.

Is there any advice you would give to someone applying to a role at OpenText?

Simple as it may sound, my advice is to set a goal. After that, it is just a matter of how you plan on getting there. That contributes to building your own brand which others will take notice of.

What do you like to do outside of work?

One of my biggest passions outside of work is playing Basketball. Basketball has always been my go-to activity ever since I was five years old and continues to be to this very day. One of the best things I could ask for was the Toronto Raptors winning the 2018-2019 NBA Championship!
