A day in the life
Frequently, I join my Sales colleagues in meetings, workshops and discussions at customers sites, often involving travel around South Africa or other African countries.
I also spend my time preparing presentations and hands-on demonstrations, learning more about our broad stack of products and investigating customer scenarios and use cases.
Why did you join?
As a new graduate, I was thrilled by three things:
The global nature of work at OpenText and the worldwide opportunities that it presents. I was looking for a company where I could build an international career. It worked out great. I was involved in many international projects while I worked in Germany and was then able to transition permanently to South Africa.
I wanted the chance to get involved with big, high-stakes customers. OpenText works with many Fortune 500 organizations and that caliber of client base was very attractive to me.
I felt OpenText had so much potential as an organization and was growing so quickly it would give me the chance to grow with the company. Since I joined, the company has grown from 6,000 to more than 13,000 colleagues. It’s exciting to be part of a successful and growing team.
What do you like best?
I like continually developing my technical and communication skills to understand the nuances of our products to create innovative solutions and communicate them back to clients in a straightforward way that isn’t overly technical.
OpenText culture
While working in Germany, I loved the German atmosphere and getting to know so many colleagues from various departments. The smaller South African office, though, feels even more personable and connected. It’s lovely to know each other well, to celebrate success, to live through changes and grow strategically together, all while still experiencing the support and backing from the global organization.
Life outside of work
I love to spend time out in nature, hiking and walking. I’m happy to have moved to South Africa and to discover the culture and nature around me right here.
