Within the Opentext corporate environment, the senior storage administrator will be a member of a greater infrastructure services team responsible for the global corporate storage/backup environment and all facets that make up a typical enterprise storage/backup solution. This role is responsible for deploying storage changes, upgrades and optimization standards, storage performance tuning. You will participate in an on-call rotation to handle production impacting issues. You will report to the leadership of Storage for Corporate Infrastructure Services.
You Are Great At:
The senior storage administrator will be responsible for changes, implementations and operational maintenance and support of various technologies and products as typical of an enterprise global environment; these technologies include but not limited to the following: Enterprise storage, enterprise backups, disk-based backup hardware, Enterprise backup/recovery software, Backup staging arrays, Network interconnects, Virtualized systems, Standalone physical systems, Monitoring, Various automation and orchestration packages
- The senior storage administrator is expected to be responsive to direct assignments, monitoring alerts, automated tickets and escalations.
- Providing oversight of the global storage/backup footprint, and forecasts based on usage and trending
- Participating in strategic projects and providing storage/backup reports
- Keeping up to date with storage vendor and backup vendor product offerings along with industry trends
- Provide Level 3 expertise for break/fix issues environment by working with technical services storage/backup resources
- Ensuring accurate and non-impactful changes are implemented in the production
What it takes:
- Candidate must have successfully completed a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or other related and relevant technology field.
- Candidate must have at least 6 years' experience within medium to large enterprise (global scale)
- Strong storage experience with NetApp FAS9000, Dell EMC, HPE Nimble, PURE preferred.
- Experience with hyperconverged solutions such as NetApp HCI.
- Strong backup experience with Veritas NetBackup v8.x, Dell EMC Data Domain (backup and replication), backup automation, Rubrik, Veeam.
- General networking knowledge as relates to the OSI model, SNMP, Syslog, IP segmentation, VLAN designations, NTP, bandwidth throughput and saturation.
- Backup concepts relating to type, iteration and retention as relates to compliance and legal statute.
- Backup automation, scheduling and verification.
- Cisco UCS platform as relates to backup staging and integration.
- Data migration experience
- Systems Replication, DR and Business continuity.
- Knowledge of VMware & vSphere Administration and scripting
- Assets include GCP/AWS/Azure infrastructure experience and scripting with Python, Powershell
- Knowledge in Kubernetes, automation with Ansible, Terraform would be an advantage
- Understanding of system administration, troubleshooting and performance tuning of RedHat Enterprise Linux, Solaris and Windows servers
- Candidate should be familiar with ITIL methodology, change management.
- Ability to workindependently, think and act responsibly and display good work ethics.
- Candidate experience should have been broad and covering multiple disciplines within the storage and backup administration field.
- Candidate should be experienced in developing technical documentation with diagrams
- Candidate should be able to demonstrate organizational and attention to detail skills.
- Willing to work a rotating schedule of 24x7 on-call support
For New York and Colorado residents, this job is expected to pay in the range of $105,000-$115,000/annum, in addition to a comprehensive and competitive group benefit and healthcare plan. Individual compensation will be determined based on skills and experience comparable to the job requirements.
