Summary:

This role mainly coordinates the team activities of geographically dispersed engineers and technicians who deliver a variety of services in Design, Implementation, Operation and Retiring of OpenText Data Center locations in the EMEA region with focus on the main DC location in Amstelveen (NL) This position oversees next to the ICT parts of the operation also the technical installations, building facilities, facilitating building services and related logistics as well. Given the nature of our company and its ways of doing business; this position resides in the OpenText Data Center in Amstelveen (NL) with possibility of working outside business hours and temporary assignments abroad; for example in France, Germany, Suisse or the United Kingdom.

 

What you bring:

  • At least 8 years ICT and (technical) Facilities experience with prior people management experience preferably in a corporate data centre environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ICT equipment and infrastructures
  • Experience with telecom systems, telecom operators and data center colocation providers
  • Hands-on/Hands-off experience with technical facilities such as: power distribution, power generators, battery backup systems, electric transfer switches, fresh air supply, chilled water systems, free-cooling, CRAC’s & CRAH’s, Building Management Systems (BMS), fire detection- and suppression systems, water supply, plumbing and drainage systems as well as experience with technical security systems like CCTV and access control
  • Modern data centre design experience in capacity planning of server room/rack lay-outs as well as allocating power and cooling capacity in our datacenters and rented co-located spaces
  • Ability to work with engineering departments to define the requirements for new deployments
  • Past experiences that inspire your colleagues
  • Experience in Confluence, JIRA, SM9, ServiceNow and Netbox

What you will do:

  • Provide support and leadership to a global company with 24x7 ICT operations & maintenance
  • Ongoing technical and leadership support for activities involving our Cloud Operation Services
  • Communicate data center platform technology strategies to all levels of the organization, including our business relations and technical partners
  • Planning and oversight for all physical infrastructure activities affecting our datacenter locations
  • Performance management and capacity planning for the ICT and facilitating side of Data Centers
  • Perform resource planning, cost estimation, budget development and cost control
  • Forecast staff needs and coaching, motivating, and developing team members’ abilities
  • Be a Data Center liaison with the application teams, network organization and the facility group
  • Responsible for development and improvement of Data Center SOP documentation and process, including emergency response, disaster recovery and physical security management in such a way that they are effective and reflect industry standards and/or best practices
  • Experience to refine and streamline existing processes and add new functionality and metrics
  • Provision and deployment of servers, network- and telecoms equipment in a live production environment including hardware qualification tests
  • Track datacenter issues, troubleshoot and remedy hardware issues, and manage RMA processes
  • Manage access to the data centers, ensuring appropriate access control lists are maintained at each facility and reporting to management about data center access
  • Responsible for notifying and coordinating projects directly affecting business users
  • Enforce strict Change Management policies regarding datacenter resources
  • Assist in implementing service methodologies including but not limited to, incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management, etc.
