Associate Consultant - Vertica

The Opportunity:

The candidate should have up to 5 yrs. of solid experience in Database Operation Support/Engineering/ Development.

The candidate must have hands-on experience with Vertica Administration activities and knowledge of OLAP Architecture, Shell/Python Scripting.

You are great at:

• Very strong database background & Expertise in Vertica DB configurations 
• Vertica Backup and Recovery & Restore
• Linux OS knowledge of CPU, RAM, IO, and Networking 
• Installation, configuration, patching of Vertica and Management Console 
• Cluster expansion migration, upgradation, and rebalancing.
• Expertise in Performance tuning and optimization techniques.
• Should be expertise in shell & python scripting.
• Handling applications deployments, upgrades, handling process in multiple environments.
• Analytics mindset with the ability to mitigate multiple issues and troubleshooting database issues.

What it takes:

• Manage team member feedback and performance reviews with a roadmap for providing expectational service to Enterprise-wide Vertica DBA activities.
• Work closely with the technical teams and provide guidance for best practices in database technology and distributed database deployment.
• Automation of database monitoring and alerting.
• Continuous improvement of operational process and implement standard operational procedures.
• Vertica capacity planning and license management.
• Data integrity maintenance using effective utility and disk management procedures.
• Support, maintenance, tuning, performance monitoring of Vertica database systems and cluster environments.
• Build the right relationship with key stakeholders to allow for proper execution of Vertica roadmap.
• Using Systems and Networking knowledge to isolate and fix application problems.
• Continuous Performance Management. Measuring performance and working with team members, developers, and others to consistently improve the team.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders, development architects/managers & developers, across locations, to ensure timely support & delivery.
• Ensure stable & bug free environments.
• Basic knowledge on monitoring tools like Prometheus, Splunk, Cloud Probes & Moog.
• Administration and management of configuration management tools; GIT (and GIT extensions)
