Lead Quality Assurance Engineer_Automation Testing with Java, Docker & Scripting

The Opportunity:

        The Lead Software QA Engineer is responsible for creating, implementing and automating testing in support of software test requirements. The SQA Engineer develops and expands test suites and test cases and maintain the automation infrastructure. In addition, the SQA Engineer will execute and report on planned tests, report and manage defects, regress software fixes for new and existing products, assist development with replicating and debugging problems and develop new test automation solutions as needed. The SQA Engineer has a strong technical and programming/test automation skill set as well as a good compliment of analytical and technical abilities to take manual test cases to automation.

 

You are great at:

  • Reviewing product specifications and work with others to develop appropriate test strategies and detailed test plans
  • Leading and participating in formal reviews of test plans, designs and requirements documents.
  • Accurately predicting the amount of effort required for projects and tasks. Develop plans and schedules based on these predictions
  • Designing, implementing and managing an automated suite of test scripts
  • Identifying product issues and writing detailed bug reports during the product development cycle
  • Communicating and coordinating with peers and senior level individuals in cross-functional groups to articulate and compare alternative testing approaches
  • Reviewing defects that escaped to the field to learn how they could have been prevented or detected
  • Participating in documentation reviews during product release cycle to ensure quality and comprehensive product documentation.

 

What it Takes:

  • Proven track record of Quality Assurance and automation of tests
  • Programming experience in Java and script languages (Perl, , Ruby, bash, Powershell) for automation
  • Experience with Containerization, e.g., with Docker
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture concepts
  • A solid working knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux, experience in configuration and administering those OS platforms
  • Working knowledge of various Databases (MS SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL etc.) with some experience in Database setup and administration
  • Experience in software installation, configuration and troubleshooting both stand-alone and within a network-based client-server environment
  • Working knowledge of software testing processes (test case definition and test management, both for automated and manual tests)
  • Knowledge/experience around continuous integration, continuous deployment
  • Build process know how
  • Automation with tools like Chef
  • Distinctive analytical, solution- and scenario-oriented skills
  • Strong software quality advocate, well organized and detail-oriented
  • Intrinsic motivation to always look for improvements
  • Not hesitating to try out new stuff
  • Positive open minded professional attitude and communication style
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Informatics or Scientific Computing at University or equivalent
  • Or alternatively IT specialist with proven track record in Quality Assurance and automation of tests
  • 7-10 years professional experience in Enterprise scale Environment
