Sr. Cloud Applications Engineer

The Opportunity:


The Cloud Application Engineer is an individual contributor in Production Services team reporting to the Team Lead. Application Engineer is highly focused in supporting applications and infrastructure for OpenText platforms and is responsible for ensuring that application solutions are consistent with the overall architecture. Application Engineer performs installations, configuration, administration, on-call duty and tuning of software products. They run necessary maintenance tasks such as upgrades and provide technical support and troubleshooting of application related issues. The Application Engineer will work closely with software development, customer support, and infrastructure teams and will provide 2nd level support when needed.  


You Are Great At:


  • Collaborate with teams from Product Development, Professional Services and Customer Support teams to Deploy Services / Applications.
  • To work on Datacenter migration of Applications/Services, and Disaster Recovery Planning & execution.
  • Work on Post Implementation Review process for bugs, fixes, and issues encountered in active production instances.
  • Actively support production incidents, problems, and on root cause analysis.
  • Provide feedback with Engineering and Professional Services teams to make services stable and resilient.
  • Develop/enhance GXS’ Automated Deployment strategy
  • Knowledge on integration points of hosted Applications and related implementation expert for CloudOps
  • Work with 3rd party vendors and their support organizations for any impact to OT hosted solutions
  • Ability to prioritize work to ensure timely project deliveries.
  • Available to work on weekends to scheduled maintenance activities and Deployments.
  • On rotation monthly 24x7 oncall support


What It Takes:


  • 5-7 years’ experience in managing mission critical enterprise applications. Degree in technical sciences is preferable. 
  • Strong experience in multiple technologies. 
  • Experience in Linux server, windows and relational database basics. 
  • Experience in authentication management /SSO basics. 
  • Understanding of software architecture and programming principles (Java). 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in implementing application solutions that are consistent with the overall architecture both documented and implied. 
  • Experience in the delivery of tested and verified solutions. 
  • Well versed in J2EE container technologies e.g. Tomcat, WebLogic, WebMethods integration platform and technologies such as JMS Broker ActiveMQ, and Apache webservers.
  • Knowledge in Linux / Middleware (Tomcat, Apache)
  • Working Knowledge of AMQ/JMS
  • Working experience on RedHat and Windows Operations Systems based Physical / VM Machines.
