The opportunity:


This is a great opportunity to become part of larger Cloud Services Delivery team. As part of a larger Cloud Services Delivery team, the Sr. Manager of Database Service Delivery will be responsible for driving success for the OpenText cloud based solutions utilizing the Oracle, MS-SQL and other DB environments.


We are looking for an objectives-driven, hands-on leader who is detail-oriented, time and cost-conscious, and a talented innovator.

You will demonstrate an exceptional level of team building and the intuition to recognize and direct the varying elements of project and personnel demands that drive a successful technology company forward.You have the ability to make sound decisions after carefully gathering and evaluating the facts.


You are good at:


  • Manage technical teams that support the Oracle installations for the Business Network Provide technical and project management direction.
  • Ensure Oracle DB and underlying technology is running current/supported software versions.
  • Provide leadership for Cloud Database Operations teams based in Bangalore
  • Interface with our internal stake holders e.g., Technical Support team, Engineering, and other onshore and offshore teams
  • Collaborate with other Cloud Ops managers.
  • Manage the Monitoring Database performance, availability and execution of run books to prevent outages and restore service to maximize availability.
  • Ability to prioritize work and organize resources in order to effectively deliver team objectives.
  • Lead and actively manage established Incident, Problem, Change and Service Request fulfillment processes based on ITIL framework.
  • Ensure that Business continuity requirements are met through proper disaster recovery, backup, and recovery methods.
  • Define clear performance goals and objectives and follow up with employees on progress
  • Identify areas of opportunities and improve processes to exceed pre - defined SLA obligations
  • Managing the monitoring, support, maintenance, and deployments in commercial environments.
  • Lead the team members in implementing work demand reduction efforts by focusing on proactive issue prevention and root cause resolution.
  • Lead Major Incidents process and drive activities to minimize service disruption duration
  • Creation of key metrics, processes, workflow and reporting to actively manage, measure, and validate performance at the individual and organization levels while tracking against strict SLAs
  • Manage incidents through the entire lifecycle: Identification, Logging, categorization, prioritization, diagnostic, escalation, resolution and closure
  • Ensure adherence to Service Levels Agreements for both response and resolution times
  • Escalate as appropriate to colleagues and management to ensure timely issue resolution
  • Lead internal documentation and runbooks creation covering all aspects of team activities
  • Manage and actively lead/comply with Change and Release management process
  • Define standards, guidelines and quality with respect to team deliverables.


What it takes:


  • Minimum of 15 years of experience, hands on experience as Oracle DBA.
  • Excellent understanding of Oracle technologies and related product / technologies used in replication such has Golden Gate.
  • Hands on experience with Golden Gate, Data Guard and troubleshooting.
  • Good understanding of Linux OS.
  • Experience with managing Cloud Database platforms e.g., AWS, Azure, and conventional data centers
  • Hands on experience managing Incident, Service Requests, and Change managements.
  • Oracle and ITIL certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience in applications/infrastructure monitoring and monitoring tools such as Nagios, New Relic, PagerDuty, etc.
  • Experience in large scale Database releases/deployment and Change Management
  • Even temperament to manage work even under stressful circumstances
  • Ability to work effectively, add value as a team manager, asserting a leadership role for the team
  • Ability to teach other members of the team and act as a mentor as required
  • Must be able to coordinate across various groups and functional teams
  • Ability to perform tasks and manage team with little supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to implement, drive and track tasks and projects
