Open Text EDR\MDR is a new product line initially targeted at the enterprise, midsize, and small and medium (SMB) sized business market that leverages the Open Text MDR service, and its technology components, including a telemetry sensor for endpoints.  We enable comprehensive data protection for companies, consumers, and our vast network of enterprise customers and our Remote Management and Monitoring and Managed Service Provider partners around the globe.  As a new security platform offered by Open Text, alongside Webroot’s endpoint security it will provide a critical layer of notification, protection, and remediation for our end customers.

The Opportunity


The Open Text EDR\MDR Product Management team is seeking a Lead Product Manager with a track record of managing existing products as well as driving new products and new capabilities from initial concept to successful delivery and market adoption. It is an individual contributor role with responsibilities spanning the strategic to the tactical:


  • You will define the strategic direction for the product on a three-year horizon based on customer feedback, market characteristics, and the competitive landscape;
  • You will translate the strategic vision into a product roadmap looking out 12-18 months;
  • You will work closely with the engineering teams, including joining standups and contributing to some Product Owner responsibilities, and writing Epics and stories as part of our Agile scrum process;
  • You will work closely with UX, Sales, Product Marketing and Marketing teams;
  • You will be the main point of contact for customers, including interacting directly with senior executives, technical and engineering contacts, sales, and marketing;
  • You will also act as the Open Text representative externally, working with industry analysts, third party security groups and internet security teams, and relevant government contacts;
  • This is a high visibility product and service, and you will present the strategy and execution to senior leadership, and have a direct impact at a multi-billion dollar public company with customers and teams worldwide;


In short, the role of a Lead Product Manager is diverse and demanding, requiring the individual to have a broad range of technical, business, and people skills, or the desire to take on and learn those skills.  While demanding, it is also rewarding and a chance to work with great people on a fun and impactful suite of products.


Success Factors


What will make you successful in the role:


  • Demonstrated experience in the internet security industry, including endpoint protection, End Point Detection and Response, Managed Detection and Response, and\or Extended Detection and Response products and services;
  • Highly autonomous and able to independently validate high-value projects and drive their completion;
  • An interest in working in cross-functional team environments where accomplishments come from an ability to influence and convince rather than from direct authority;
  • Comfort with making decisions in an environment with a considerable degree of uncertainty, and the ability to work with senior management to drive product solutions;


Skills & Experience:


  • 2-6 years of software PM experience is required in internet security, endpoint protection, and or XDR\EDR\MDR products and services;
  • Previous direct experience working in a SOC, MSP/MSSP, or hands-on with threat data is a.plus;
  • Fluency in internet security terminology, practices, engineering practices, threat hunting, and detailed awareness  of the XDR\EDR\MDR competitive environment;
  • Ability to model business strategy including ROI, tradeoffs, and build/buy/license decisions;
  • Experience with agile processes and acting as a PM or PO, including writing user stories;
  • Technical background and ability to work across the entire product stack – endpoints, cloud, data services;
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to execute product discovery, including concept validation;
  • Ability to create and execute a go-to market plan;
  • Able to balance competing priorities around features, architectural investments, technical debt, and cost optimizations, articulate a path forward, and sell that to senior management;
