An engineering role with Webroot is a role that will allow you to change people’s lives. The Role

Webroot is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to support our Windows PC software engineering teams in Broomfield, Colorado.


The Windows PC engineering team is responsible for the design of one of Webroot’s primary products. The management role requires that you utilize your technical and leadership skills to work with product management in helping to guide the engineering team to deliver quality features to our customers efficiently and effectively.

Specific Objectives and Responsibilities


Your First Six Months:

· Familiarize yourself with project and the team, the global engineering organization, and product efficacy capabilities.

· Work with the product organization to help guide the team toward common efficacy goals.

· Help drive efforts to keep deliveries in scope and on time.

Six to Twelve Months and Beyond:

· Mentor junior members of the team toward the next level of their careers.

· Propose innovative solutions to enhance product efficacy and stability.

· Contribute to the design and development of the key projects.

Key Challenges to Overcome


The team strives to achieve fast iterative-driven release turnarounds. The candidate’s success on the team depends chiefly on their ability to lead and motivate team members, limit scope creep, and work side-by-side with the Product team to deliver content quickly and with a few issues as possible.

The candidate’s successes will have a direct impact in keeping businesses & consumers alike safe against breaches & malware.

· Motivate, mentor and guide the team members in a fast-paced development environment, innovating and solving problems which have no currently known solution in the industry.

· Provide leadership, technical expertise, and career development for individual contributors.

· Be highly autonomous and able to independently identify high value efforts and drive them to completion.

· Have a high degree of comfort with complex technical environments.

· Having and being able to articulate/defend an informed opinion on important topics.


Skills & Experience:

· Solid understanding of Windows operating systems.

· Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.

· Management or leadership experience – 2+ years.

· Excellent all-around communications skills required.

· Passionate about working with the Engineering team to resolve roadblocks and maintain high productivity levels.

· Familiarity with software development utilizing Microsoft Visual Studio.

· Familiarity with using source code repository tools with emphasis on Git.

· Familiarity with C / C++ programming languages is extremely helpful but nor required.

· Knowledge and/or experience in Windows Internals helpful but not required.

· Knowledge and/or experience in Windows API helpful but not required.

· Development in an agile team setting.


For Colorado residents, this job is expected to pay in the range of $125K to $155K  USD in addition to a comprehensive and competitive group benefit and healthcare plan.  Individual compensation will be determined based on skills and experience comparable to the job requirements.
