The Opportunity


Webroot is actively seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design and build critical backend cloud-native systems, API services, and tools to grow and support our Security Mobile product suite. We utilize the best available tools, instruments, and practices to better protect our customers. We are looking for the talent that will help us stay on the cutting edge of technology. 


As a Senior Software Engineer you will be primarily responsible for the design, development, and deployment of cloud based applications. Meeting customer expectations and specifications as discussed and detailed throughout the Agile process. You will be working with other backend developers and experts in the broader organization. Your expertise will facilitate accurate decision-making, mitigate potential risks, and influence technical implementations.  


The right candidate understands Agile software development practices, requirements, design, and testing techniques. We are seeking someone who can conceptualize projects and applications. Providing a clear understanding through communication and documentation in order to steer towards desireable outcomes. 


In addition, you should be experienced, or conversant, in emerging ideas in application development on both the user interface and middle tier technologies. While it is not necessary to have a deep knowledge in all of these technologies, you should understand them sufficiently to guide the organization in adopting them if appropriate.  


Required Qualifications  

  • 5+ years of professional programming experience.

  • Proficient in one or more modern programming languages. (e.g. Golang, Kotlin, Java, C++, etc.)

  • Firm understanding of REST and gRPC based API’s.   

  • Good understanding of microservice architecture and design patterns.  

  • Incorporating good software engineering practices such as SOLID design principles, code reviews, source control, CI/CD and testing.  

  • Working in an Agile team environment or with some form of delivery process methodology.  

  • Ability to prioritize customer value over ideas.  

  • Ability to investigate, research, and ask questions.  

  • Ability to learn new technologies and languages, and to switch between them as needed.  

  • Experience on handling multiple projects simultaneously. Meeting deadlines while effectively managing priorities and communicating progress.  

  • Experience with design and code reviews to ensure compliance with industry and team standards.  

  • Ability to communicate effectively in visual, verbal, and written form to teams and leadership.  


Preferred Qualifications  

  • Developing backend services using Golang.  

  • Experience with Cloud-native design  

  • Containerizing applications using Docker.  

  • Incorporating build scripting tools like Gradle.  

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines in GitLab.  

  • Utilizing modern infrastructure components like AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform.  

  • Integrating with SQL and NoSQL based databases like DynamoDB, MySQL.  


For Colorado residents, this job is expected to pay in the range of $108,000.00 USD to $162,000.00 USD in addition to a comprehensive and competitive group benefit and healthcare plan.  Individual compensation will be determined based on skills and experience comparable to the job requirements.
