Lead Cloud Database Administrator - MS SQL Server

Overview of Business Function  


OpenText Cloud Operations is responsible for the global operations and delivery of our Open Text cloud services to clients in multiple industries. Our offerings range from shared, multitenant SaaS offerings to Managed Services supporting Enterprise Clients and are hosted on a variety of infrastructure platforms. The Cloud Operations team is responsible for defining the technical platform and partnering with our engineering and security teams to deliver solutions using a DevSecOps approach. 


The Opportunity 


OpenText Business Network Engineering is strengthening its global database administrator team, and we are currently looking for a MS SQL Server DBA to work with the product development team as well as engage hands-on in complex problem solving with global application engineering and system engineering teams. 


What it takes: 


  • Manage the database environments that support ANI and ALLOY cloud service platforms of the Business Network. 

  • Design, document and implement Data Retention, Backup and Disaster & Recovery policies and solutions 

  • Patch management for Security and Compliance 

  • On-call rotation to provide 24x7 service availability coverage to business users and customers. 

  • Willing to learn other database technologies such as Oracle, Cassandra, MapR, etc. 

  • Very focused on how to proactively improve the database performance and its availability to the applications 

  • Expert in applying automation to the database environments 

  • Expert in the daily support the daily administrative tasks for the database environment  and in troubleshooting the specific database environments 

  • Expert in the delivery of tested and verified solutions before applying to production. 

  • Involved in defining policies and identifying best practices 


You are great at :


  • MS SQL server administrator experience, performance monitoring and tuning of databases 

  • Window server environments and experience. 

  • Experience with other database technologies such as Oracle, Cassandra, MapR, Elastics Search, etc. is a plus 

  • Experience with RHEL Linux environment is a plus 

  • Experience with configuration management such as Ansible. 

  • Experience with preparing dashboards for Performance / Capacity Management. 

  • Experience in agile and scrum methodologies and related tools such as Jira and Confluence 


Technology Stack 


  • OS: Linux OS and window server environments. VMware VMS, Kubernetes 

  • Programming languages: JAVA, Python and shell scripting. 

  • Database technologies: MSSQL, Oracle, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, Arango DB, Elastic Search, MapR, Kafka 

  • CI / CD environment with tools such as Jenkins. 

  • Configuration management and automation: such as Ansible, Rundeck. 

  • Monitoring Tools: Zabbix, New Relic 

  • Security Tools: Sentinel One, LogRhythm
