The Manager oversees a team of employees that work directly with key, high value customers to deliver an exceptional experience promoting repeat business and long-term relationships.  This position takes an active part in the management of staff as well as the delivery of services.  This position will work with Managed Review staff, project managers, technical project managers, data analysts, consultants and other managers to provide the expertise required to deliver managed review services directly to high value accounts.  The position is responsible for the ultimate success of assigned high value accounts and reports to the Director of Managed Review. This position requires flexibility to work nights and weekends.

 

You Are Great At:

 

  • Provide leadership to the department in support of the company’s initiatives and objectives as well as motivate the staff to achieve high levels of success.
  • Thoroughly understand the roles that stakeholders play in each project and directly manage the staff that deliver those services. 
  • Ensure all staff adhere to company and department policies and conduct themselves in a professional manner in their dealings with clients, third parties and coworkers; provide effective feedback to reviewers and improve reviewer performance.
  • Responsible for preparation and delivery of performance reviews, suggestions for promotions or raises, awarding bonuses, hiring staff, and taking disciplinary action when necessary up to termination of employees.
  • Seek resolution to customer issues through other departments as necessary; work effectively in a team environment with members of the Professional Services department and other departments within the company as well as external teams such as law firms and corporate litigation departments.
  • Exhibit an appropriate sense of urgency, ownership and focus as it relates to customer satisfaction, delivery, or issues that might arise and focus energy in a constructive manner.
  • Provide training and act as a resource to customers when appropriate.
  • Stay current with changes in the industry and application of the tools developed by OpenText to ensure ability to meet the overall objectives of clients.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients via phone and email.
  • Lead calls and meetings with counsel, clients and other parties of interest in a review.
  • Lead team meetings with assigned review team.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Axcelerate and Insight’s functionality including coding, searching, filtering, Foldering, and Dynamic Folders.
  • Create project plans defining scope of work including lists of deliverables and deadlines, scheduling, resource allocation, reporting, and budgets and execute on these plans both directly and through the leadership of others.
  • Provide superior client service in demanding, deadline driven situations ensuring the delivery of quality work product within established time frames.
  • Create standard and custom, proactive and reactive reports based on client needs and objectives established in the project plan.
  • Assist on unassigned projects when requested by supervisors or peers.
  • Apply analytical skills and leverage existing methodologies to various client situations and practice disciplines to meet shifting client needs.
  • Bill clients for all managed review time and ensure that managed review team is doing the same for your assigned matters. 
  • Introduce OpenText services to clients as needs dictate.

 

 

What It Takes:

 

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited university and Technical undergraduate degree preferred.
  • Active bar membership in the United States.
  • Five or more years of experience directly managing staff.
  • Working knowledge of litigation lifecycle, EDRM, litigation document review and workflows, complex searches related to litigation, Technology Assisted Review and Continuous Active Learning.
  • Certified Insight User and Axcelerate User
  • Experience with MarkLogic or other NoSQL databases along with technical skills such as SQL, programming, writing scripts or mathematics.
  • Organizes and expresses ideas clearly and concisely orally and in writing. Tailor’s content of communication to the level and experience of the audience. Ensures that others involved in a project, including senior management, are kept informed about developments and plans.
  • Shows commitment to lead through effectively demonstrating the character, experience, humility, wisdom, and discernment necessary to create the trust and influence to cause the right things, to happen for the right reasons, at the right times.
  • Maintains high standards with consistent attention to detail. Demonstrates competence and confidence internally and with clients, maintaining proper poise and etiquette. Acts ethically and is always accountable for actions. If mistakes happen, takes responsibility, and works to resolve the issue.
  • Forecasts accurately and helps ensure delivery against a plan. Identifies information needs and helps ensure systems / personnel are in place to deliver. Focuses on critical path and delivery on key priorities.
  • Acts with the realization that efficiency is vital to success. Makes decisions and drives activities to meet important windows of opportunity in the industry. Exhibits an appropriate sense of constructive energy and focus, particularly related to Strategic Corporate client relationships.
  • Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of the broad e-Discovery, ELM, EDRM marketplace and serves as an expert on the needs of corporate e-Discovery – identifying and pursuing new areas of expertise as OpenText’s solutions evolve.
