Technical Writer (m/f/d)


You are part of a team of talented authors who support OpenText software development projects worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a global organization across multiple teams. 


You create software documentation in the form of user guides and online help. In addition to the written content, we also create how-to videos, which are published on our Youtube channel and on the self-service portal MySupport of OpenText. Our passion is to deliver technical and innovative documentation sets.


This is what awaits you with us: 

  • Design, research, and write documentation for new or existing products based on customer needs and goals
  • Create content in the form of online help and guides for different user roles, such as end users or administrators
  • Develop and maintain documentation plans and status reports for assigned projects
  • Close and iterative collaboration with development, product management, quality assurance, user experience design and support
  • Participate in cross-team projects such as improving the quality of user documentation or increasing efficiency in our workflows
  • Proofreading for other author material and other forms of written material 
  • Create and publish how-to videos 


This is what we expect from you: 

  • Studies or comparable technical training with professional experience in technical documentation/editing 
  • At least 8 years of experience writing technical documentation for software applications and creating documentation sets for different audiences
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in XML editing tools
  • Experience writing in a structured authoring environment and single sourcing
  • Knowledge of the creation and use of graphics in technical documentation
  • Very strong oral and written communication skills in English, German language skills would be beneficial  

It would be nice to have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Experience with versioning tools such as Perforce and bug tracking tools such as JIRA
  • The ability to write and design minimalism information
  • Experience in an agile development process
  • Knowledge of video production, experience working with SAP Solutions
