Lead Product Manager

The Opportunity:

As a Lead Product Manager, you will be responsible for the overall product strategy and driving the delivery of the product to satisfy key business objectives. You will work extensively with the User Experience Design function to ensure a successful user experience and works with the Software Engineering teams and Architects to steer implementation details. You may act as “customer” for the iterative software development life cycle. You are responsible for on time product delivery while ensuring that overarching product goals are met, including documentation and setup logistics such as release engineering. You act as the primary escalation point for engineering with respect to priority settings, based on an agile/iterative development process.

Emphasis is also placed on roll-out activities such as Pre-sales, Global Services, Learning Services, the Support organization, and key partners, in order to produce the repeatable services and business content required to successfully deploy each product/application. You support and deliver technical training where required to Learning Services, Global Services, and the Support Organization; as well, you co-sponsor internal training for Solution Consultants and may be called upon to assist with technical-like Global Services implementations. As the Product Manager, you will also advocate Marketing activities and analyst relations by providing domain knowledge.


You are great at:

  • Understanding the DAM market and with a curiosity to influence the industry shift to Cloud and SaaS and future
  • Bringing new ideas to the development teams and helping them understand the direction in which you wish to take the product
  • Evangelization of your ideas, products and services to marketing and sales teams
  • Working in an agile manner and delivering on the roadmap with high quality and performance
  • Maintaining the product roadmap and represent it for the product internally and externally
  • Monitoring and incorporating market and industry innovations
  • Writing, reviewing and prioritizing product requirements and use cases
  • Working closely with product development leaders to ensure product is built to specifications
  • Working with product managers and architects to define the work required for each product feature and then to ensure each release cycle is appropriately managed
  • Coordinate with UX and PI teams to define/scope User Interface and Documentation requirements
  • Synchronize development priorities with timelines, resources , customer priorities
  • Sign-off developed functionality and collaborate with release Engineering to release it for Customers (internal/external)
  • Install/configure product demo configs and demo product to internal and external stakeholders as needed
  • SME for queries on product functionality, use cases
  • Collect and prioritize product requirements (from customers, competitors, partners, industry analysts, Sales, Business Development, Global Services, Customer Services, R&D and Program Managers)
  • Synthesize and prioritizes across customers’ wants and needs, balancing them with company strategy and capabilities to define the product roadmap
  • Develop and maintain Requirement Specification Document and drive the iterative development process of achieving these high level goals
  • Assist Program Managers and Marketing to execute 'go to market' plans including packaging, pricing, collateral events and lead-generation programs
  • Provide input to QA for creation of test plans and certification criteria
  • Assist Education Services group in developing a training program to educate customers and Open Text internal audiences on the details of the product/application
  • Evangelize product/application at trade shows, webinars and user group meetings
  • Work with key customers to acquire and respond to product feedback for future product releases, and communicate roadmap details
  • Understand product competitors and support development of competitive responses for sales and marketing
  • Act as a contact point for Customer Services in regards to feature and enhancement requests coming from customers
  • Contribute to and help champion best practices, toolkits, and standards, fostering a customer-centered culture
  • Perform sales support activities including product demonstrations, proof of concept development, presentations
  • Support Sales/Customer Services/Global Services in regards to critical escalations.


What it Takes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 8+ years of enterprise product development experience
  • Practical experience working on software or services delivery for large customers
  • Good understanding of product specifications documentation.
  • Ability to handle large-scale project management for concurrent initiatives.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle process and methodologies
  • Experience in the ECM industry preferred
  • Experience with SaaS, Cloud, and mobile application design, development, and delivery
  • 5+ years experience in defining and managing core products or business applications, either through product management or equivalent activities
  • Practical knowledge of agile/iterative development process (optional, but advantageous)
  • Entrepreneurial and self-motivated, business oriented
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Effective at influencing and convincing others into action yet able to also be a good team member/player
  • Ability to manage in a very fast paced environment with multiple high-level priorities.
  • Enthusiastic, sees problems as opportunities, and proactively develops knowledge and skills needed.
  • Understand and articulate customers’ viewpoints and perspectives, the problems, challenges and opportunities customers face in their businesses and how customers use, or could use, the product(s) to address them
  • Goal driven, plans and manages toward achieving goals, anticipates problems and issues and proactively drives their resolution
  • Proactively interacts and establishes rapport with people of diverse styles, backgrounds and job positions/levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all levels.
  • Strong customer orientation and comfortable in sales situations.
  • Skilled in presentations and discussions with business and technical staff.
  • Used to work in an international environment involving multiple development sites on various time zones.
