The opportunity:

OpenText is the market leader in Enterprise Information Management platforms and applications. As a Software and Build Engineer, you will be working with continuous integration software build tools to develop install packages for Windows, Linux, and Docker-based products, continuously improving the automation.   Working in an Agile environment, you will be producing new versions on a quarterly release schedule, modifying packages to support new product features and/or new deployment usability and functionality improvements. You will also be working with automation pipelines to verify and validate package content.

 

You are great at:

  • Detail-oriented problem-solving abilities to identify root causes for problems and develop robust software solutions
  • In addition to programming languages, strong experience with multiple scripting languages required
  • Experience with software version control system concepts (Git strongly preferred)
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and at least one distribution of Linux
  • Respect for and awareness of operating system standards, best practices, and security issues
  • Strong collaboration skills, working with a team to discuss and design changes before implementation
  • Ability to document knowledge gained clearly and concisely to share with the team and/or inform product documentation
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, including resolving conflicts with competing priorities and tasks

What it takes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 5 to 8 years as Build Engineer.
  • Experience in Scripting languages 
    • Gradle
    • PowerShell
    • Linux shell
  • Experience in below technology 
    • Experience in RPM packaging on Linux using CMake/CPack
    • Expert in Windows Installer (InstallShield)
    • Experience in Docker and Helm charts
  • Software environments and tools
    • GitLab
    • TeamCity
    • Artifactory
    • Maven
    • Jira
    • Confluence
    • Microsoft Teams
  • Expertise on unit testing, performance tuning, troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
