The Opportunity:
The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accounts and records in various general accounting functions and performs basic accounting activities. This involves collecting and analyzing financial data, preparing, and posting journal entries to the general ledger, performing month-end close activities and account reconciliations. The role also prepares reports to ensure that transactions are accounted for 1) in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and company policies and procedures, and 2) internal controls in compliance with SOX initiatives.
The role also supports the Accounting Supervisor and Manager in various various accounting and closing tasks. Resolves basic to medium issues. Provides ideas, research and support for process improvement and problem solving.
You Are Great At:
- Preparation of monthly journal entries.
- Preparation of monthly account reconciliation for both non-key and key accounts using an account reconciliation tool.
- Perform and meet month-end closing tasks.
- Assist in the preparation of fluctuation and trend analysis and provide relevant explanation for any variance.
- Assist in providing the internal and external auditors, and other stakeholders the audit requests, relevant financial reports, and other ad-hoc requirements.
- Effectively engage and collaborate with relevant colleagues, customer and stakeholders with speed and quality.
- Responsible in ensuring agreed KPI targets/ SLA are met.
- Responsible in ensuring all transaction processed are in compliance with internal controls.
- Responsible in staying current and up to date to any applicable new Accounting Standards in accordance with GAAP.
- Support in developing training and knowledge sharing to new hires and aid less experience team members.
- Assist the team on regular process review and identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
- Actively participate to any team meeting, quarterly business review, regular meetings with controllers, and other meetings as required.
- Participate to various employee engagement activities and GSSC programs
What It Takes:
- Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree in Accountancy, Business or Finance related courses
- CPA Preferred
- Preferably with 2-5 years relevant experience in RTR (Records to Report) function or General Accounting.
- Thorough knowledge and demonstrated skills in matters related to accounting and financial policies, procedures, and reporting.
- Analytical, critical, and creative thinking to identify problem and propose resolution based on broadly defined methodologies and techniques
- Strong attention to detail, and good documentation and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Exhibits good oral and written communication skill and effectively communicates with people of diverse interests and levels of authority
- Strong team player
- Computer literate with high proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Experience in using SAP is preferred
- Experience in using Blackline is preferred
- Basic US GAAP accounting knowledge
- Willing to work flexible hours
