Reporting to the Billing Manager, the Lead Billing Representative is an integral role in ensuring the billing process and delivery in the Order-to-Cash function. He / She brings their subject matter expertise in operational process, metrics reporting, office automation, and SAP & desktop application integration. The person should be willing to process billing related operational activities while paving the way for a better integration of the tools used in the day-to-day activities.
The person should be a great customer service, is a team player and business partner skills to effectively support your peers, leaders, and other key stakeholders in delivering its services to our customers. He / She should also bring your professional approach and strong process capabilities to support our process automation goals while having the innovative culture as a way of life and in so doing would lead a change in our everyday approach.
What you will do:
- Accountable to ensure your portfolio of orders meet /exceed billing targets, which requires accurate interpretation of complex legal agreements and ensuring PO’s meet the standards Peer audit reviews on work from contract through invoice
- Partner with Sales and Collections to resolve billing and collections issues, including completing account reconciliations to ensure accurate and complete resolution to achieve month end, quarter end targets
- Partner with Global Billing peers to drive end-to-end process and practice improvement to deliver on process automation goals
- Responsible to effectively manage external customer/stakeholder inquiries on billing processes, internal controls, and policies
- Responsible to follow all internal controls and policies related to order processing and billing to protect OpenText’s brand
- As an operational SME, support work to ensure month end, quarter end targets are achieved
- As an automation SME, work with peers or project teams to deliver on various identified initiatives that will support continuous process improvement, streamlining and automation from basic to complex automation (desktop to various systems used by billing)
- Ensure full documentation on all tools created for audit and review purposes
- Assist in audit-related activities.
- Deliver on other priorities as assigned to execute on the billing mandate
- Track and report on regional contract activity, timelines, and other metrics as required
Skills and Experience:
- University / College Degree with Accounting, Finance, Computer Science or IT preferred
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in operational process (global software billing services, or high-tech industry preferred) with a clear and solid execution of various automation initiatives
- Strong working knowledge of billing systems, Microsoft products, Business Intelligence, or other reporting tools. Knowledge in SAP, Sales Force would be an advantage
- Has expertise in invoicing and collections processes and best practices and applies expertise to multiple aspects of a project. Possesses highly developed professional technical expertise, which is applied to complex customer inquiries and billing processes/projects
- Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and US GAAP Revenue Recognition
- Demonstrate the ability and willingness to:
- Present information logically and concisely to stakeholders at all organizational levels, both verbally and in writing, multi-lingual skills an asset
- Train, utilizing change management methodologies to ensure your peers and stakeholders successfully use new processes
- Drive a culture of learning amongst your peers and other stakeholder groups on best billing practices
- Take full ownership and responsibility for assigned tasks and support issues.
- Works independently on assignments of a complex nature where initiative and creativity are required in resolving problems and/or developing recommendations often to a very tight timescale due to financial deadlines.
- Uses exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to Interact with internal groups and customers to assist in the negotiation and resolution of specific requirements. Interacts directly with senior management and customers to effectively coordinate and influence.
- Reporting Expertise Must Include Proven, Hands-on, Expert level Experience with:
- Building data models in Excel – Expert
- Querying large amounts of data using SQL
- SQL Database Management
- Excel with specific knowledge in VBA, Power Query and Power Pivot - Expert
- ETL with SSIS experience (Expert)
- Scripting knowledge – VBS Macro Programming
- Batch file experience
- Sharepoint
- PowerBI
