Sr. Systems Administrator (VMware exp) - Day Shift

The Opportunity

Within the OpenText corporate environment, the Sr. Systems Administrator will be a member of a greater Technology Services - Compute Services team responsible for the global enterprise compute environment and all facets that make up a typical enterprise level compute environment. The Sr. Systems Administrator will be responsible for implementation, operational maintenance, and support of various technologies and products in a highly virtualized global compute environment. As a Sr. Systems Administrator, you are expected to be an SME and an escalation point to team members as well as external members of the OpenText enterprise. You will be responsible for installing, administration, configuring, maintenance, and monitoring corporate physical and virtual compute infrastructure. You will be responsive to direct assignments, project execution, monitoring alerts, automated tickets, and escalations, and part of an on-call rotation to handle issues impacting production. You will report to the Manager – Technology Services - Compute.

  • Virtualization software
  • Virtualization hardware
  • Hyperconverged systems
  • Blade chassis/servers, Standalone servers
  • Out of Band Management systems
  • Network and Storage interconnects
  • Cloud computing
  • Monitoring and Reporting
  • Disaster Recovery
  • Various automation and orchestration packages
  • Providing SME level knowledge for troubleshooting issues
  • Ensuring accurate and non-impactful changes are implemented in the production environment
  • Working as part of a globally distributed team of dedicated individuals

 

What it takes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or other related and relevant technology field.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Systems or Sr. Systems Administrator.
  • Strong experience with VMWare products such as vSphere, vCenter, vRealize Automation/Operations, NSX, vSAN and SRM.
  • Experience with NetApp and VMWare hyperconverged solutions.
  • Cisco UCS family of products and associated FI switching infrastructure.
  • HP, Dell, IBM and other server platforms.
  • Windows, Unix (ie: RH, Solaris, SUSE, Ubuntu) administration and virtualization.
  • Scripting and use of PowerCLI, Powershell and Orchestrator.
  • A solid understanding of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity processes.
  • Experience with ITIL methodology and Change Management.
  • General networking knowledge as it relates to the OSI model, SNMP, Syslog, IP segmentation, VLan designations, DHCP, NTP...
  • The ability to work independently, think and act responsibly, and display good work ethics.
  • The ability to demonstrate organizational, attention to detail, and technical documentation skills.
  • Willing to work a rotating schedule of 24x7 on-call support.
