The Role
We’re seeking software quality assurance professionals who are great at developing test automation to contribute to our best-in-class data protection solutions. This opening is for a QA Developer for the Carbonite Server Backup product – a cloud-based backup solution targeted specifically at small businesses. The successful candidate will participate in an Agile scrum team, write test cases, test new features, develop test automation, report/troubleshoot issues, and help deliver new releases of the product.
Specific Objectives and Responsibilities
First three months:
- Gain basic understanding of CSB product suite with focus on the UI/Portal.
- Learn the team’s automation environment, tools, and processes
- Learn how to use existing test automation, review the scheduled runs and participate in root cause analysis for failures
- Implement simple fixes for failed tests to increase the coverage.
- Design/code review the work of peer engineers.
Three to nine months:
- Design and develop several suites of automated tests.
- Contribute to ongoing test automation improvement efforts.
- Contribute to conception of a next generation automation solution.
- Use your own initiative to increase velocity and quality.
- 3+ years in a Software Quality Role (manual and automation), including experience creating test cases based on story acceptance criteria, troubleshooting, filing/resolving defects, and documenting results
- 2+ years of Test automation experience
- Good software development skills with knowledge of object-oriented design and programming
- C#, Java (or similar languages like C++, etc. …), Selenium experience
- Exposure to RESTful/API automation.
- Good experience with Windows platforms and knowledge of relational databases (such as MS SQL)
- Abundant initiative and ability to rapidly learn from mistakes
- Exceedingly strong team/collaborative work ethic
- Strong communication skills
- Active, demonstrable curiosity about the newest technologies and practices
Nice to have:
- Experience in a mature Agile scrum team
- Familiarity with Data Protection / Backup products – understanding of typical backup use cases and how to test them
- Exposure to virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Experience executing/debugging pipelines in Jenkins Server
- Familiar with: Nunit, Python and bash scripting
- Knowledge of Amazon Web Services or Azure
- Knowledge of Docker / Kubernetes
