The Opportunity:
An OpenText Professional Services Senior Consultant is responsible for the technical delivery of the Application Modernization & Connectivity (AMC) Enterprise solution that allows customers to move their business critical application workloads to a hybrid cloud infra-structure.
Working within a team you will be providing the technical consulting and guidance to deploy the Enterprise Solution as part of a mainframe modernization project with a heavy emphasis on delivering successful outcomes for our customers.
What You are great at:
- Delivering on complex project work items within a customer and delivery part team with minimal direction from a technical lead
- Contributing to the design and deployment of OpenText AMC Enterprise products
- Supporting a Solutions Architect in the implementation of new customer specific solutions
- Running technical proof of concept / proof of value exercises and pilots.
- Deliver external and internal technical presentations and cross training to peer groups
- Use and contribute to technical forums and best practice initiatives within the OpenText environment and technical user communities
- Working independent to apply your subject matter knowledge to solve a variety of common technical issues
- Work collaboratively as part of the OpenText services team and to support delivery partners and the customer to ensure successful project outcomes
What it takes to excel:
- Experience working with the following mainframe technologies
- COBOL and/or PLI programming
- System or application level experience with IBM CICS, IMS and JCL Subsystems
- IBM Db2 for z, IMS DB or mainframe format data files (VSAM/QSAM)
- Experience working with the following distributed technologies
- Relational databases such as IBM Db2 LUW, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL or Oracle
- Windows, Linux, Unix operating systems
- Knowledge of Cloud infrastructure and services from AWS, Azure and GCP
- Docker / Kubernetes and or OpenShift platforms
- Exposure to tools and methodologies used to migrate mainframe workloads via hardware/middleware emulation, automated code conversion, and re-platforming.
- Familiarity with development lifecycles including agile engineering practices like Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD and automated pipelines using GitHub, Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins or similar tools
- Ability to use own initiative to resolve problems and to obtain relevant information needed to perform a given task
- Good problem solving and Trouble-shooting skills
