Sr. Manager, Continuous Control Monitoring

OVERVIEW:

 

The Senior Manager, Continuous Control Monitoring will report to the Vice President, Internal Audit. The role will be responsible for driving specific procedures and technology to continuously monitor and audit controls related to financial transactions. This is a key role in coordinating OpenText’s proactive control monitoring framework.

 

The role will enhance the timely oversight of compliance across financial transactions thereby reducing errors through exception identification and timely remediation. This role focuses on addressing key risks, which may not always be material from an ICFR perspective but are critical, including risks from inappropriate charges and duplicate payments. This role will also provide effective and proactive leadership in the development and implementation of Digital Assets / Data Analytics strategy for complex and diverse audit engagements.

Key stakeholders include the Finance Leadership Team and key finance leaders within the Global Treasury, Digital Business Services and Accounting Teams.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

 

  • Evaluate the accuracy and effectiveness of existing transactional and monitoring controls related to global bank, customer and vendor accounts to understand risks of duplicate or inappropriate charges and payments

  • Through detailed and analytical reviews of global bank, customer, and vendor account statements, identify and detect duplicate or inappropriate charges and payments

  • Develop analytic tests to gain insights on transactions of particular interest. Expand or adjust tests to pinpoint anomalies in high-risk areas

  • Review, aggregate and analyze large data sets meaningfully to identify unusual trends, anomalies, and non-compliant transactions. Report on key metrics, risk and control indicators, triggers, breaches, and trends

  • Plan the strategic execution of data analytics, visualization and enable data integration for other continuous monitoring techniques as part of the OpenText Internal Audit processes (which includes risk assessment, audit engagements, reporting and continuous audit)

  • Be proficient in technology-driven processes, systems and underlying infrastructure. Develop an understanding of the threat landscape related to the Finance functions activities and services. Expand the use of information to define data elements and turn data into critical insights and knowledge

  • Actively participate in team meetings and share information. Suggest improvements to detect and prevent potential losses from control lapses, through stronger policies, procedures, roles and responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 2-3 auditors with the requisite knowledge, skills and experience

  • Use direct experience, external benchmarking and knowledge of regulatory expectations to support management’s goal of developing an industry-leading controls monitoring function

  • Assist with various special projects, as requested by the Vice President, Internal Audit

 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

 

  • An accounting designation is required (CA / CPA designations are preferred). A plus for individuals to be certified under an accredited body such as the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE)

  • Bachelor or Master of Science with a concentration in computer science, information systems, information security, mathematics, decision sciences, risk management, engineering, etc. or another analytics certification is an asset

  • Strong controls, compliance and/ or internal auditing background with demonstrated understanding of finance policies and procedures

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to review, analyze and synthesize large data sets that require the ability to work independently and make decisions

  • Ability to expertly extract and present data analytics results in a coherent and effective manner to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Organization and time management skills in managing multiple priorities to meet tight deadlines

  • Strong team player, understanding that you deliver as a team and it is always best when you collaborate to find solutions to problems

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and consistently, with effective listening and excellent report writing skills

  • Result orientation with a strong focus on completing tasks and producing high quality results within a fast-paced environment

  • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information and restrict the flow of information to those with a legitimate “need to know”.

  • Experience with Audit Board or other similar products for managing audit progress, scheduling, and electronic working papers is an asset
