Sr. UX Designer




User Experience Designers at Open Text research, design, prototype, and test software products that solve the critical business needs of our customers. Through a sound understanding of our product vision and the people that use our products, we create compelling, usable user interfaces for complex enterprise software applications across desktop, web, tablet, and mobile platforms. We work in highly collaborative, agile environments to create industry-leading Enterprise Information Management software solutions.


What you'll be doing:


  • You will be expected to research, conceptualize, design, evaluate and deliver exceptional user experiences via our software products, with help from your UX peers.


  • Creating interactive prototypes to shepherd your project group through the stages of design discovery - learn, design, evaluate, repeat.


  • Working with people distributed across the world to orchestrate the activities necessary to conceptualize and deliver software projects.


  • As a senior in the UX team you'll be looked to for your expertise in design; specifically, to help cultivate a shared understanding of our design practice.


You'll be a good fit for this role if you:


  • Have experience translating research (from actual users or internal stakeholders/SMEs) into concepts and models (e.g., scenarios, workflow maps, task analysis diagrams). Synthesizing the characteristics and behaviours of people and their environments into frameworks, models and diagrams, that underpin your designs, is second nature to you.


  • Have the ability to balance design perfection and other priorities like deadlines. You can come up with a design concept that addresses the business need, provides a good UX, and gracefully takes other constraints into consideration like cost, timeline, etc...


  • Can perform activities like heuristic evaluation and expert reviews and have the basics of things like Nielsen’s 10 usability heuristics in your blood.


  • Can plan and facilitate 1:1 interviews and usability tests with little to no oversight.


  • Enjoy working on complex B2B / B2C challenges. This role will be tasked with either designing (or redesigning) enterprise-scale software, which has no shortage of complex challenges to unravel.


What it takes:


  • 5-8 years of relevant and recent professional work experience.


  • Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Science, Interaction Design, Computer Science, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or related experience.


  • Dedicated listener, facilitator, communicator, and team player.


  • Self-reliant, used to taking initiative, and great at follow-up.


  • Able to quickly get up to speed using either Figma, XD or Axure for your work.


  • Knowledge and/or experience working with accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG, etc.) is a plus.
