The Opportunity:
As a Cloud System Administrator, you will provide support for several OpenText’s commercial cloud-based messaging platforms, with a focus on application services running on Linux, Windows and Solaris based systems

 

You are great at:
•    Installing, building and managing virtual & physical servers, network related devices (ie. firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, etc.), web servers, database servers, etc.
•    Installing, configuring, patching and troubleshooting Linux, Windows and Solaris servers and their related software
•    Evaluating, planning, installating and configurating of all application software and where possible, automated approaches for system administration, deployment and monitoring tasks
•    Participating in assigned short and long term projects that vary in size, scope and complexity.
•    Performing and managing continuous system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
•    Responding to and troubleshooting/resolving assigned incident tickets
•    Rapidly recovering from hardware or software failures to ensure high service availability. Identifies and escalates situations requiring urgent attention. On-call support (both business and off-hours) and scheduled night or weekend maintenance work
•    Providing support to other technical departments in order to investigate and troubleshoot customer integration and telecom issues
•    Writing and maintaining systems, infrastructure, procedural and process documentation.
•    Reporting and addressing security incidents, outages, vulnerabilities, etc. in accordance to our Security System. Actively participates in the establishment and maintenance of our ISO27001 and other certifications
•    Staying informed on changes in technology and within the computer industry and keep current on security protocols, applicable laws and regulations.
•    Uses established methodologies and documented procedures to perform assigned tasks and keep work and data center environments clean, secure and well-maintained.
•    Managing work to meet milestones in accordance with the project plan and keep management and project managers informed of issues and status.

 

What it takes:
•    Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent work-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
•    Strong knowledge of Linux and networking technologies (switches, routing, NAT, VLAN, firewalls, vpn, dns, etc.)
•    Intermediate knowledge of shell scripting (particularly Linux) and good knowledge of at least one language that can be used for scripting, such as Perl/Python/Bash/PHP/Ruby or similar
•    Intermediate knowledge of Windows server operating system
•    Intermediate level experience in DevOps tools (Ansible, Git)
•    Intermediate level experience working with virtualization platforms including VMware
•    Practical knowledge working with monitoring (HP OMi, Zabbix or similar)
•    Good knowledge of Solaris operating system
•    Good knowledge of common server software, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Apache httpd, Apache Tomcat, Nginx, etc.
•    Good understanding of High Availability and Disaster Recovery, including clustering and data replication techniques
•    Good understanding of data protection and encryption techniques
•    Good understanding of web application environments and SMTP integrations
•    Knowledge of AWS services is an asset (EC2, RDS, ELB, S3, SES, Route53)
•    Strong interest in computer security
•    Methodical & disciplined approach to problem solving and analysis
•    Demonstrates constant initiative and good judgment
•    Engaged team player that will actively participate and provide feedback on all work related activities 
•    Speaks English fluently and French preferred
