Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer - Automation

Webroot is seeking a test engineer with experience in testing applications running on Windows or Mac Operating System. In this position, you will be an integral part of the product release for Webroot's numerous cutting-edge Web Security applications and services. You will get the opportunity to work with our team of talented engineers to facilitate the development and testing of the next generation of our Threat Intelligence applications and server backend.




  • Participate in all aspects of product delivery, including review of user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
  • Interpret product specifications and develop comprehensive test design/plan to perform functional and load testing.
  • Perform the required tests to validate the feature’s functionalities and performance, and communicate the progress to the team.
  • Develop test documentation and guidelines.
  • Configure and maintain the testing environment being used by the team for testing
  • Develop automated tests scripts, and develop test tools and applications that will help with the delivery of the product.
  • Working together with other teams to deliver the team goals and objectives.




  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in testing applications  running in an enterprise environment, especially in the area of Inter-Operability
  • Experience in test automation or test tool development in one or more programming/script languages (e.g. C#, Java, JavaScript, Shell Script, Batch, Python, Perl, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of how Internet traffic works, and the network protocol (e.g. HTTP, TCP/IP, UDP).
  • Working knowledge of the general Web security landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
  • Solid understanding of the full software development life cycle
  • Solid understand of Windows/Mac Operating Systems, that is, able to install and configure a new system when required.
  • Solid understanding of how system architecture and Operation System configuration settings can affect the application’s behaviours.
  • Very adaptive to a fast-changing environment, willing and able to acquire new skillset as required
  • Able to communicate effectively among teams with a wide range of technical backgrounds and experiences 
  • Degree in Computer Science or related field




  • Shell/batch scripting (e.g. bash, Powershell, etc.)
  • Knowledge of tools: source control (Perforce/GIT), agile technologies (Rally/Scrum)
