Lead Business Continuity Analyst

The Position


Business Continuity Management ensures that a governance framework, aligned with applicable regulatory requirements for BCM across the organization is developed, implemented, sustained and can be easily executed in response to unexpected disruptions to regular operations.  


Key Accountabilities:


  • Part of a team of BCM professionals who work with senior management in all lines of business to coordinate business continuity activities.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the enterprise-wide business continuity management program including development of tools and instructional guides for both business continuity planning and incident management, development and facilitation of enterprise-wide exercises, relationship management with external vendors, support of corporate policy, standards, and guidelines.
  • Contribute to establishing and maintaining program processes and practices which effectively ensure that the enterprise program remains current and incorporates/aligns with industry standards and practices as appropriate, and adequately covers general regulatory requirements.
  • Supports and/or leads processes that support BCM governance requirements as part of the enterprise operational risk framework (as assigned).
  • Ensures appropriate integration of requirements and information obtained from various sources including regulatory requirements, leading practices, audits and contractual requirements.
  • Subject matter expert for business continuity management.
  • Participates in external business continuity management organizations and keeps abreast of industry best practices and trends.
  • Provide 7/24 incident management on-call support as required.


What it takes:


The incumbent must have an in-depth understanding of business continuity management best practices and protocols (specifically DRI/ BCI and ISO 22301), including governance frameworks, risk management and audit requirements. Specific expertise should include:


  • 5 to 7 years of Business Continuity Management and experience coordinating incident response.
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Ability to remain calm during high-impact incidents.  
  • Strong team player, ability to lead non-reports and interact with Senior Leadership. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written for the purposes of facilitation and documentation.
  • Must participate in "on-call" duties (7/24) as a member of the business continuity team.


Expected educational background for this position would include:


  • Minimum:  Post-Secondary Degree.
  • Expected:  Continuity Industry certification i.e., ABCP, CBCP or equivalent.
