Background and Purpose
OpenText solutions create a measurable impact on customers’ business processes. Enterprise solutions in particular require a strategic and holistic view of the business, since they can significantly impact a customer’s bottom line and contribute to the realization of their strategies.
The Business Value Consulting team's mission is to drive increased sales by helping prospects understand the potential value of an investment in OpenText solutions and guide customers towards realization of that value. Collaborating with senior business executives from the prospect, the Value Engineer can help formulate customer-specific business cases that connect the company's strategic goals, business challenges and industry trends to the OpenText solution, while crystallizing the value proposition. The result of the BVC team's efforts is an increase in OpenText's win rate, increased deal sizes, shortened sales cycles, and demonstrative stakeholder centricity.
Job Description
This is a position which is best described as a mix of sales, management consulting and finance. The role is an opportunity for someone with consultative business analysis skills to have an impact on large enterprise software transactions. It represents a unique bridge from the world of business analysis to the critical function of Sales.
Responsibilities
The Principal Value Engineer is a senior level professional able to support multiple engagements in complex environments. The responsibilities include:
Conducting industry research and develop financial analyses for prospects to identify areas for improvement.
Running surveys, interviews and facilitating workshops with the lines of business to understand their requirements, the hurdles, the impact, and the value.
Being the trusted advisor to OpenText customers helping them to understand the value of a proposed OpenText solution.
Designing tools and deliverables to help penetrate enterprise customer accounts, including Business Capability and Maturity Studies and Outside-In Analyses.
Constructing compelling, easy-to-understand benefit analysis and financial investment deliverables
Maintaining a strong understanding of the broad OpenText technology portfolio at a level sufficient to understand and communicate “the art of the possible” in terms of business process and Information Management (IM).
Assist with building the practice by contributing reusable tools and templates, which can be leveraged to increase innovation and improve quality.
Candidate Profile
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
7+ years relevant work experience in experience in sales, business development or management consulting
Great knowledge of Supply chain management, data and or application integration, e-business, B2B, B2A, API and EDI.
Understands KPIs and value chains within multiple industries
Strong quantitative and analytical skills including knowledge of financial statement analysis and modeling.
C- Level messaging and influencing experience. Understands value proposition of leveraging technology to enable digital business
Executive engagement, facilitation, and public speaking techniques and experience.
Experience with development of business cases that include benefits, ROI Analysis, Total Cost of Ownership and Competitive Analysis, Risk Management, Implementation roadmap and Business Transformation Strategies.
Ability to work effectively in virtual teams
