The purpose of the Sr. Cloud Deal Contracts Manager as part of the Worldwide Cloud Deal Desk is to assist sales with preparing and negotiating strategic customer contracts for OpenText’s family of Enterprise Cloud Managed Services solutions.  Once a Cloud opportunity is identified, the revenue operations team (of which the Sr. Cloud Deal Contracts Manager is part) works closely with the responsible Account Executive (AE) in a supportive role as one of the Cloud solution subject-matter experts (SMEs) to assist in achieving a successful outcome of the quote to close process.  


As Sr. Cloud Deal Contracts Manager, you will engage with the field sales organization to support contracting of our strategic cloud offerings and working closely with the AE and sales executives and legal to paper, negotiate and close those opportunities. You will provide guidance on contracting documents and processing to use to navigate the end of the sales cycle.  You will provide contracting assistance from the business perspective, draft contracts from templates and other SME feedback/contributions, draft counter contract clauses, advise the sales teams and be the business prime when negotiating with the customer.  As a senior team member, you will also have a hand in defining the future of contracting cloud at OpenText by in defining and improving cloud offerings and related processes by participating in various internal working groups and works with, supports, and advises, other members of the Cloud Desk group, as necessary.

 

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Guiding the sales organization through the contacting portion of the sales cycle for cloud opportunities
  • Presenting OT Cloud contracting processes and paper to internal and external audiences
  • Advising and participating in contract negotiations from the business perspective, including managing risk to the business and assessment of opportunities against our policies
  • Proposing contract language by amending and adjusting clauses in the face of active negotiations
  • Qualifying and risk assessing customer requests for adjustment of contract language and clauses
  • Being a proactive owner of tasks that come up during negotiations or contract turns
  • Contributing to internal working groups on our cloud offerings, contracting and processes
  • Providing contract paperwork review during RFX bid/no-bid decision reviews
  • Tracking and reporting on regional pipeline activity, negotiations-to-close timelines, and other metrics as required
  • Ensuring full documentation of each opportunity is stored for audit purposes

 

What candidates should bring to the role:

  • Previous experience conducting contract negotiations, preferably concerning cloud/SAAS technology.
  • Legal background/familiarity with advanced skills in contract preparation, negotiation, drafting and interpretation of a wide variety of agreements in areas including technology and partner agreements would be considered a strong asset.
  • Additional language skills (french or German) are a pre-requisite 
  • Proven written English and drafting skills (writing new clauses, amending, and adjusting legal language).
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the company including executive management.
  • Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality
  • Experience with business deal risk analysis and familiar with revenue recognition concepts
  • Ability to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines in a new and changing environment.
  • Expert capabilities in MS Word, and proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within and across teams to achieve results.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure in order to meet frequent deadlines.
  • Well versed in cloud-based service delivery topics and cloud/hosting operations. Knowledge of OpenText product offerings a plus.
  • Analytical thinker with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • A positive, self-starter, get-it-done attitude, and the ability to think creatively while acting professionally.

 

The position requires a bachelor’s degree or college diploma in business or contracting, or equivalent experience in a contracting related field. An MBA is desirable but not required.
