The Opportunity: 

We are looking for a very experienced, quantitative, business savvy, articulate and creative Senior Director of Data and Business Analytics to lead, mentor, and grow a team of exceptional data scientists and analysts. Under your leadership, the team will be responsible for uncovering insights that explain business performance and/or drive the business forward, and influence internal stakeholders in Finance, Sales, Marketing, Product, and Engineering. The ideal candidate thrives on uncovering insights hidden in data, has a consultative mindset, and is used to partnering with teams across an organization. He/she must be a motivating leader that is able to select and focus on high-impact, complex data projects. The candidate will have extensive experience delivering complex, cross-departmental analytics projects on time, monitoring the accuracy of the data, and driving adoption and measuring impact to business in SaaS and recurring revenue businesses.

 

 

You Are Great At:

  • Utilize your expertise in providing hands-on people leadership for a global team of business analysts, data scientists, data engineers, software engineers, product managers, user researchers, and architects to identify and execute on high priority business opportunities
  • Lead the analysis of trends, model future behavior, and forecast business outcomes
  • Develop strategies and approaches to analyzing large data sources using analytical tools to develop predictive models, drillable dashboards, and conducting ad-hoc analyses
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to improve business performance using insights generated by the team
  • Regularly partner with the sales team to deliver actionable insights to improve partner performance, and co-develop key metrics against which the supply teams will be measured
  • Provide actionable intelligence on the competitive environment, marketplace dynamics, customers, and other external and internal forces that could impact our business
  • Lead growth initiatives to drive the business forward
  • Foster a culture of high-performance, with team members located across the globe
  • Perform deep-dive analysis of KPIs to identify key drivers that contribute to each KPI
  • Provide insights and models to sales management and finance teams in the forecasting & budgeting process
  • Empower departments across the company to leverage BI solutions and reporting in their workflows
  • Proactively provide recommendations on new data sources and metrics for future analysis
  • Train business users of various skill set to enable ‘self-self analytics; advocate for data-driven decision and frameworks via empowerment of data usage across the business 

 

 

What It Takes:

  • 8+ years of business intelligence, data analytics, and/or insights experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, finance, or related field; advanced degree a plus
  • Experience building, managing and growing an analytics team with strong functional expertise and influence while fostering a supportive learning environment
  • Experience and familiarity with databases, SQL, and python skills using large data sets are a plus
  • Extensive experience with business intelligence solutions (Alteryx, Tableau, etc)
  • Advanced Excel skills (macros, power query, pivots, etc.)
  • A proven track record of using quantitative analysis to impact key business or product decisions.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills: demonstrated ability to understand business challenges, structure complex problems, develop solutions.
  • Experience with e-commerce, direct-to-consumer, and SMB businesses
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in a simple way
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a fast-paced, innovative organization
  • Proven business operator and strong leader
  • Ability to effectively liaise with multiple internal teams and senior leadership
  • BA/BS degree required, MBA a plus
