The Opportunity
The role of Senior Systems Administrator – Compute Services will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and support of the computing infrastructure supporting the OpenText engineering lab platform. This person will be accountable for the design, deployment, and administration of a diverse set of technologies, including, but not limited to VMware ESXi deployments, NSX software-defined network deployments, Cisco UCS deployment anc configuration, and other technologies in support of the engineering lab.
This role is a great fit for someone with creative and innovative problem-solving skills with an aptitude for learning in a fast-pace and dynamic environment.
You are great at:
• Ability to scope and specify technical solutions based on business requirements
• Strong understanding of industry best practices and standards.
• Working with highly complex enterprise systems
• Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure systems and derive a solution
• Working with Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), Dell, HP, Sun, and other hardware vendors
• Woking with diverse storage technologies in a virtualized infrastructure.
• Automation is your passion.
• Building and maintaining a good relationship with team members and cross-functional teams.
• Replacement of computer components and hardware, such as hard drives, DIMM or other components
• Provide on-site support in the Data Center during incidents, RMA, project and maintenance activities
What it takes:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent work experience.
• 3-5 years of progressive responsibility in the areas of virtualization, infrastructure deployment and management.
• Practical experience in the deployment, management, and troubleshooting of VMware Cloud Director, NSX and related products.
• Experience with VMware vSphere 5,6,7 suites; including but not limited to design, configuration, administration, capacity planning, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Cisco UCS server platform and other hardware vendors such as Dell and HP.
• Proficiency in automation and configuration tools such as PowerShell (PowerCLI), Python, Ansible.
• Proficiency with Linux, Windows, or Unix operating systems.
• Strong understanding of ITIL principles
• Provide emergency off-hours support
Other Desired Qualifications:
• Good understanding of storage and network technology
• Understanding of network topologies and common network protocols and services (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, FTP, SMTP, DHCP, TCP, IP etc.…)
• Awareness and insight into industry trends (technology, methods, and tooling)
• Relevant industry certifications such as VMware VCP, Cisco data center certification
