THE OPPORTUNITY:

 

Managing a team of graphic designers responsible for developing and designing creative solutions for all marketing deliverables. Additionally, this role will work closely with the other art directors on the team on day-to-day creative asset requests from across the the organization as needed.

Working collaboratively across the creative marketing team, taking the lead to ensure client requirements are met and comply with design, creative and brand specifications, providing design consultation across various market specific activities and presenting completed ideas to clients/team members.

 

YOU ARE GREAT AT:

 

  • Leading a team of designers on creative initiatives and provide clear visual and conceptual direction and feedback
  • Provide a strong foundation motivate and insprire for designers while adhering to approved client expectations to create memorable and compelling design experiences for corporate marketing initiatives
  • Ensure and uphold visual identity guidelines throughout all projects
  • Work directly with internal clients to to define project goals and desired-outcomes and manage the design phase of projects from concept development to final execution
  • Execute work on time and on budget to ensure that all projects are consistent with the corporate brand identity
  • Research, sketch and iterate on designs while collecting user and stakeholder feedback
  • Work with direct reports to define annual goals, identify new areas for growth and areas of improvement

  • Troubleshoot and anticipate design and production problems and work with company staff and outside vendors to resolve/prevent these issues

  • Liaise with all clients to ensure corporate brand identity guidelines are followed
  • Work enthusiastically and cooperatively within creative team and with other departments throughout the organization as well as vendors

  • Communicates design direction and specifications clearly to developers using style guides, red-lines and prototypes when required

  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with co-workers, vendors and developers
  • Provides input into and follows departmental procedures

 

WHAT IT TAKES:

 

  • 8+ years of graphic design with a strong portfolio and relevant education/training
  • Excellent conceptual ability
  • Team player with superior leadership and experience managing a team, interpersonal and strong communication skills
  • Expert knowledge of visual design, corporate identity, typography, color theory and user-interface design
  • Clear understanding of all OpenText marketing initiatives, strategic positioning and target audiences
  • Hands on experience with logo design, typography, color, web layout design, print production, image selection and package design
  • Proficient use of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator or other visual design and wire-framing tools
  • Incorporate feedback and take/give direction well
  • Proven organizational skills, high attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to create superior, original designs for print, Web, mobile/responsive, stand-alone mobile apps, online applications, and interactive experiences.
  • Hands on experience in all phases of design process from project initiation through final delivery.
  • Must also be conversant with Windows Platform and Microsoft Office. 
  • Functional understanding of HTML5 and CSS3.
  • High-proficiency with design software on Mac OS X, Adobe Creative Cloud
  • RGD designation or other professional designation is an asset.
