OVERVIEW
As a member of OpenText’s Corporate Accounting team, you will support and lead the team in their daily tasks and serve as the primary contact for cross-functional projects and process improvement. You will take a lead role in preparing timely and accurate management and operational financial reports. This will include recording, reviewing, and analyzing the company expense related to employees in the company GL and account reconciliations. You will also assist in ensuring standard processes are properly documented and functioning as expected. You will identify areas for process improvement and lead integration projects from a corporate accounting perspective throughout the year
What you will do
- Prepare, review and approve monthly payroll journal entries to record the company expense related to employees into the company GL
- Analyze month over month and quarter over quarter variances of relevant payroll accounts and prepare commentary for management reporting purposes
- Be involved in balance sheet assurance for internal and external reporting purposes
- Ensure payroll related balance sheet reconciliations are up to date, easy to understand and that historical items are cleared in a timely manner
- Liaise with internal and external auditors as part of the quarter end review process
- Develop close working relationships with cross functional teams, and onboard and train new team members
- Review team SOPs on a scheduled basis ensuring compliance with existing SOX controls and make updates as required
- Act as Corporate Accounting Lead on acquisitions, mergers, integrations and other special projects as required
Skills and Knowledge
- Detail-oriented work, and able to perform under tight timelines and with competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as a co-operative team member
- Effectively communicate information and ideas, particularly in written correspondence
- Demonstrate logic and analytical skills with the ability to identify and solve problems
What it takes
- 5+ years of relevant experience with solid US GAAP/ accounting knowledge
- Bachelor's or College degree in Accounting
- Candidate must possess a CPA designation (or current enrollment)
- Strong understanding of payroll processes is a favorable asset
- Computer literate with high proficiency in MS Office applications – excel is required.
- Experience in SAP is required
- Project management experience is a plus
