Lead Graphic Designer

The Opportunity: 

This role is responsible to create professional and impactful visual concepts, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate consumers for high level priority corporate initiatives within the organization.


What You're Great At:


  • Lead and work collaboratively across the creative marketing team to ensure client requirements are met and comply with design, creative and brand specifications, providing design consultation across various market specific activities and presenting completed ideas to clients/team members
  • Work with Art Directors to become well versed with the creative brief, its project scope and goals of priority projects 
  • Lead creative projects with a team as assigned by the Art Directors
  • Deliver final assets that are consistent with the corporate brand identity 
  • Developing multiple creative concepts quickly while executing work on time 
  • Testing graphics across various media
  • Prepare images for print and digital applications
  • Maintains and organizes various design servers and electronic design files.
  • Mentoring graphic designers and providing constructive feedback 


What It Takes:


•    8+ years experience in design or other related position
•    Proven ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
•    Strong experience with digital content such as websites, social media, online advertising and email campaigns
•    Great at execution while showing abundant creative confidence 
•    Lead by example with great designs showing an understanding of the strategy, creative and business needs
•    Ability to articulate your point of view on designs with perfection
•    Excellent analytical skills
•    Exceptional verbal and written communication skills 
•    Copywriting/editing experience 
•    High-proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, PhotoShop, InDesign, Acrobat), Microsoft Office (Word, PPT) and After Effects 
•    Understanding of the principles of video animation an asset
•    Ability to develop and execute motion graphics such as .gifs or cinemagraphs, quickly and efficiently.
•    Process-oriented self-starter with strong creative and technical skills as well as strict attention to detail with solid organizational abilities.
•    A robust portfolio that shows a high level of creativity and versatility
•    A keen eye for aesthetics and details
•    Degree in Design, Fine Arts or related field
•    RGD or other professional designation is an asset.
•    Ability to work west coast hours, overtime, weekend and/ shift hours in addition to or other than the average business day when required
•    Agency experience an asset

Problem Resolution
•    Demonstrates conflict resolution and problem solving skills
•    Troubleshoots and anticipates design and production problems and works with team members and outside vendors to resolve/prevent these issues
•    Checks proofs/electronic files while trouble-shooting design production problems

•    Liaises with clients to complete projects and ensure designs look and function as intended 
•    Works enthusiastically and cooperatively within creative team and with other departments throughout the organization  
•    Generously share your knowledge, be a role model to graphic designers specifications
•    Demonstrates strong commitment to high quality design and personal work ethic, while adhering to department standards
•    Seeks to continually improve technical, design and computer competence and shares knowledge through team education sessions

•    Possesses excellent organizational abilities and ablility to multi-task
•    Works well in a fast-paced environment
•    Prioritizes tasks, ensuring that departmental and corporate objectives are met 
•    Adjusts priorities quickly in response to changing corporate/departmental goals
•    Adheres to set schedules and ensures product requirements and release deadlines are met

Communication Skills
•    Provides a valuable source of creative problem solving and innovative ideas
•    Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, communicates and reports in a clear fashion
•    Provides concise creative direction in the absence of an Art Director or as part of assigned projects
•    Demonstrates strong business ethics
•    Develops and maintains professional relationships with designers, strategists, copywriters, producers, developers, etc.
•    Provides input into and follows departmental procedures
