The Performance Engineering team provides shared software performance engineering services to global Product Management and development teams in the OpenText™ Products group to ensure that OpenText products can scale, handle high volumes of data, large numbers of concurrent users, and do not fall-over edge whencase conditions stress the system.

What the role offers:

 

As a Software Developer (Performance and Load Testing Specialist), you will:

 

  • Setup and tune web-based software application deployments.
  • Design usage profiles of operations to simulate user actions.
  • Script load tests using load generation tools like LoadRunner, SilkPerformer, or JMeter. 
  • Conduct performance load tests, using increasing volumes of transactions and data volumes to profile how the software scales
  • Analyze hardware utilization, response times, and throughput characteristics
  • Use diagnostic tools to isolate bottleneck areas in the code, or tune configuration and resource parameters to optimize performance and scalability
  • Submit bug tickets, validate fixes and author benchmark reports.

 

What you need to Succeed:

 

  • Computer science, mathematics, or engineering degree or diploma, or equivalent experience working in technical roles in the software development industry.
  • Good knowledge of Windows, Linux operating systems and VMWare images.
  • Experience working with web application technologies.
  • Performance load testing experience with web applications (designing and scripting with tools like SilkPerformer, LoadRunner, or JMeter, and experience analyzing the test results, resource monitoring and interpretation skills) is an asset.
  • Experience with repertoire of diagnostic tools (fiddler, wireshark, etc.).
  • Exposure to APM tools (New Relic, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, etc.).
  • Basic database experience (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgeSQL).
  • Software development experience (Java, SQL, C++/C#, JavaScript).
  • Database and SQL tuning experience.
  • Code profiling experience (e.g. JProfiler, vTune).
  • Experience with Docker containers in Kubernetes or Cloud Foundry runtime environments.
  • Ability to apply statistical methods.
  • Most important is a keen interest and tenacity for modeling and simulating web application use to find performance bottlenecks.
  • Possess 2-5 years of previous professional experience.
