Principal Cloud Network Engineer

The opportunity:

The position will report to the Senior Network Manager for Commercial Operations. The departmental objectives are to design, build and support the network infrastructure on the commercial production environment.  The network devices consist of routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers.  The engineer will follow processes and standards. The responsibility consists of working as an individual or team to implement and coordinate highly complex network deployments.  This position is focused to firewall / security specialists with a good understanding and knowledge of the whole networking technologies (routing, switching, load balancing, etc.).


You are great at:

  • Provide expert level network design, understand all aspects, and best practices for enterprise data center infrastructure.
  • Work diligently to meet project and business timelines for design and deployment of network infrastructure.
  • Work to provide best solutions for connectivity between data centers and clients.
  • Provide day to day support of routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers utilized by Network Operations, with a focus on firewall technologies, deployment, upgrades, migrations and support.
  • Plan and recommend design that could improve the existing network environment.
  • Provide analysis of network capacity and health.
  • Implement networking best practices and standards throughout the infrastructure.
  • Creating documentation (to include Visio diagrams) and communications are essential.
  • Participate and provide feedback into the day to day Network Operations.
  • Participate in support through the ticketing system.
  • Escalate critical issues to manager in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate technical implementation with partners from business.
  • Plan and implement monitoring, limitations by resource and users/departments.
  • Ability to work after hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What it takes:

  • You are intellectually curious, easily grasp new products and solutions, and bring the spirit of innovation to your team.
  • Completed Bachelor’s degree education from a recognized University and a passion for continuous learning.
  • 11 or more years of experience in the industry.
  • Firewall / Security skillset: Check Point Multi-Domain R80.30 (Provider-1 MDSM) environment, upgrades from R77.x to R80.30 GAIA, migrations from other vendors to Check Point, Maestro Hyperscale deployments, Check Point VSX deployments, Fortigate firewalls, including transparent mode deployment, Juniper NetScreen firewalls.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and debugging skills. Usage of Wireshark.
  • Automation skillset: Experience with Ansible , including ansible core and ansible tower, development of scripts, playbooks and workflows, usage of Rest API, and programming languages such as python, github, yaml.
  • Tools skillset: Experience in the usage of network tools such as AlgoSec Firewall Analyzer (AFA), Scrutinizer for netflow, NetBrain network automation software and HP NNMI.
  • Nice to have: DC environment working experience (Nexus 5K, 7K, 9K, Spine and Leaf). Exposure to Cisco knowledge (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, DMVPN, GRE/IPSEC) and F5 Load Balancers experience (LTM + GTM/DNS, irules). Also any relevant certifications for the vendors listed previously.
