Product Owner (Data Analytics)

The Opportunity:


The team is growing and has a need for a hands-on Technical Product Owner to work with business owner stakeholders to accurately source and define business problems, the technical roadmap, scope and implement projects, and analyze requirements. The successful candidate will work on solving tough business problems through the use of AI & Analytics unlocking massive value from volumes of existing data. They will also have a solid background in analytics consulting and business analysis.  The team is global and very collaborative.  We are a fast-paced organization and there are numerous projects in progress at any one time.

The Technical Product Owner will also have a big part in influencing the development of our AI & Analytics platform called Magellan.


You are great at:


  • AI & Analytics lifecycle: working with end users to understand the business need & translating business problems to technical requirements
  • Requirement analysis and design documentation, build and test, user acceptance testing, documenting the solution
  • Business analysis: working with end users to document their business requirements and translate those into functional requirements, data requirements and a modelling approach
  • Product management: defining technical roadmap and the required product features to support that roadmap
  • Taking ownership of the backlog and prioritizing features, and bugs
  • Familiarity with a wide breadth of data science technologies and techniques
  • Educating partners on how AI & Analytics can be applied to solve business problems
  • Evangelizing about the benefits of AI & Analytics


What it takes: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, finance or a related area of study or significant experience in a similar role
  • 8+ years experience in analytics, consulting, product management or a similar function
  • Experience with product ownership - backlog prioritization, proven demonstration of analytical thinking, consensus building, superior communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of AI and Machine Learning and how they can be applied to solve problems
  • Business analysis, project management, and software development lifecycle (SDLC). Familiarity with Waterfall and Agile methodologies
  • Experience with Python or other relevant programming languages and Machine Learning frameworks
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with IT infrastructure and database administrator teams on project implementations
  • Knowledge of Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with OpenText Magellan
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to build a sense of trust and rapport with the team and partners
  • A self-starter attitude, a strong desire to learn as you go, and the belief that you can make a meaningful contribution to your immediate team, the business users that you serve, and to the organization
