Royalty Accountant

Reporting to the Director, Procurement Operations & Accounts Payable, the Royalty Accountant is an integral role in delivering excellence in the Royalty process.  This role will be responsible for monitoring royalty license agreements, contracts, and processes across the organization to make sure payments are made to vendor partners accurately.  This function will include managing the end to end process for Royalty and making sure that reports sent to the vendor are accurate and audited on a regular basis.   This role will make sure the Royalty team delivers a best-in-class royalty processes and practices, in collaboration with the 3PT, Engineering, Pricing, DGO  and other key stakeholders. They will apply their analytical skills, high level of professionalism, experience, reporting and customer service skills to successfully resolve escalations and support proactive continuous improvement in the Royalty function.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure that the company has the appropriate processes and procedures in place for timely payment and reporting required under executed royalty deals
  • Understand and collaborate with the master data team in product data management (i.e., governance, cleansing, new data setup), especially for standard coding for marketing, pricing, licensing, and costing.
  • Building on a full understanding of current applications (both functional and technical), develop approach and technical solution.
  • Collaborate with the Internal Audit team to ensure accounting processes comply with SOX and we do not have SOD violation.
  • Assist in the preparation and approve the quarterly/monthly royalty payment reports and support documentation.
  • Manage the Royalty coordinators/specialists and assign day to day functions, ensure data integrity and quality output
  • Regular audit of reports being sent to the vendor

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING: 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/College Diploma in finance, economics, accounting, or equivalent experience in the Contract Account Management or Accounts Payable. Ideally, the candidate should be registered in a program leading to an accounting designation or possess relevant experience with interpreting contracts or royalty calculations.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Contract Management
  • 2+ years of experience in Royalty management and reporting
  • A well-developed negotiation skill to interact with vendors and other stakeholders to implement license contracts that are tailor-made to individual client requirements yet adhere to the corporate licensing framework and standardized processes
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills to enable them to convince other internal departments, such as legal, finance, administration, audit, about the systems reviews and projections that they make periodically
  • Strong reporting and analytics experience
  • Organized with demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple activities in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Self-starter, detailed, self-motivated and strong team player willing to learn from your leader and others and teach your peers and others
  • Strong working knowledge with ERP environment, specifically SAP, Salesforce and Royalty system
