Senior Manager, Global Health & Safety

The Opportunity:


We are looking for a Senior Corporate Health & Safety Professional with international experience to join a dynamic team committed to protecting the safety of our employees around the world. This is a newly created position and will report to the Director, Global Workplace Security & Safety.  As part of the Global Workplace Security & Safety program, you will lead, direct, and support the implementation of a Global Health & Safety Management program for an organization with operations in Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions. You will partner with global stakeholders to promote a holistic approach to Health & Safety by developing risk-based programs focused on preventative strategies and industry-leading practices.  You will be a highly accountable leader with a deep passion and understanding of Health & Safety, and you must be comfortable operating in a demanding and fast-paced environment. A demonstrated ability to effectively influence and interact with senior management and functional teams is essential.



What It Takes:


•            Lead the management, oversight, and implementation of the Health & Safety Management System at a strategic and operational level, ensuring activities are aligned globally.

•            Develop a framework for hazard and risk management, facilities emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance in the countries we operate.

•            Work with global internal and external consultancy support to develop long-term Health & Safety strategies and short-term action plans and projects that effectively manage Health & Safety compliance and risk mitigation objectives with business and operational needs, operating plans, capital planning, resource staffing and budgeting.

•            Develop and manage incident investigation programs, including data analysis and incident prevention.

•            Monitor, interpret, and assess existing or emerging Health & Safety laws, regulatory policies, and industry practices to determine compliance and business impacts.

•            Partner and consult with Site Leadership, Facilities Leaders, Joint Health & Safety Committees, and Injury Prevention Specialists (IPS) to drive long-term strategic actions to identify life safety and environmental hazards and achieve incident reduction.

•            Collaborate with HR Wellness on ergonomic issues and consultation.

•            Deliver a global approach to Health & Safety training and awareness initiatives for our stakeholders.

•            Support safety and duty of care elements of other programs under Global Security & Safety such as Event Security and Travel Risk.



You Are Great At:


•            Demonstrated ability to lead the management and implementation of Health & Safety activities at a strategic and operational level, ensuring activities are globally aligned.

•            Outstanding relationship management skills and the motivation to work with cross-functional teams in a global environment.

•            The eagerness to implement ongoing change to improve the Health & Safety operational framework.

•            An understanding of Health & Safety measurement and disclosure reporting.

•            The ability to advocate for Health & Security at all levels within OpenText.

•            An understanding of Enterprise Security & Risk programs and how they relate to Health $ Safety initiatives.

•            Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and work on and prioritize various deliverables.

•            Ability to exercise professional judgement in situations for which there are no established criteria to problem solve.

•            Flexibility in work schedule/ability to respond to after-hour or extended events globally.

•            7-10 years of related work experience in a similar role with international experience, preferably within a global technology organization.

•            5+ years working at the management level for Health & Safety departments.

•            Bachelor’s degree/diploma/certificate in Health & Safety or related field or equivalent related professional experience.

•            Professional Health & Safety certifications related to the global impact of the role.

•            Ability to occasionally travel regional and international.
