Senior Manager, Global Security Operations & Risk Programs

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Security and Risk Professional with international experience to join a dynamic team committed to protecting the safety of our employees around the world.

Reporting to the Director, Global Security & Safety, you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational expertise to help develop several of our security risk program initiatives designed to help create a safe and secure workplace for an organization with operations in Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions.

You will have responsibility for our Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), travel risk management, global event security, physical security vulnerability and risk assessments, and will help support program development for security systems and technology strategy, as well as executive security support and journey management.

You will be a highly accountable leader with a deep passion and understanding of security and safety, and you must be comfortable operating in a demanding and fast-paced environment. A demonstrated ability to effectively influence and interact with senior executive management and functional teams is essential.

This position will be based within travel distance to either our Waterloo, ON or Richmond Hill, ON office location (s).


You Are Great At

  • Develop and execute a strategy for the global security functional programs under your responsibility
  • Develop appropriate dashboards and metrics to measure performance and to keep leadership apprised of security matters
  • Support the management of the Global Security Operations budget and associated contracts, resources, and vendors; includes conducting quarterly business reviews, capturing metrics and reporting on KPIs
  • Manage security incident response and assist stakeholders as needed across OpenText global offices, and act as the senior security leader in the event of a global emergency or disaster in support of the OpenText Business Continuity Program
  • Oversee our global third-party security services contracts and vendor management
  • Focus on our enhanced travel security risk services by developing and maintaining policies, processes, and tools to safeguard our business travelers
  • Design and implement the GSOC’s situational awareness, travel monitoring and response capabilities by utilizing technologies to monitor, evaluate, and mitigate real time risks that may impact our global operations
  • Research and implement state of-the-art technology solutions and innovative security management techniques to safeguard the company’s assets
  • Assist our Health & Safety team with the implementation of employee safety programs that aid in the prevention of threats and violence in the workplace and support our incident response
  • Collaborate in the development of new security and safety programs and assist in the deployment of these programs globally
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage complex, medium to large scale security support for internal and external-facing OpenText events which may require international travel in support of security operations


What It Takes

  • High degree of knowledge with various aspects of global security risk programs, including security systems technology, security incident management, business continuity, travel and event security, executive protection/journey management, GSOC operations, workplace violence prevention and threat assessment, project management
  • Strong business acumen with extensive experience in physical security program development and implementation, security governance and risk methodology, employee security awareness training
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the management and implementation of security and risk activities at a strategic and operational level, ensuring activities are globally aligned
  • Outstanding relationship management skills and the motivation to work with cross-functional teams in a global environment
  • Eagerness to implement ongoing change to improve the global security and safety operational framework
  • Ability to advocate for security at all levels within OpenText
  • Understanding of health and safety initiatives and how they relate to global security and risk programs
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and work on and prioritize various deliverables
  • Ability to exercise professional judgement in situations for which there are no established criteria to problem solve
  • Flexibility in work schedule/ability to respond to after-hour or extended events globally
  • 10-15 years of related work experience in a similar role with international experience, preferably within a global technology organization
  • 5+ years working at a program leadership level
  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma/certificate in security management, risk, business, or related field, or equivalent related professional experience
  • Professional certifications related to the global impact of the role such as CPP, CFE, CISM, PSP, PMP
  • Ability to travel regionally and internationally
