For this new position, we are looking for a senior security risk professional with international experience who understands the strategic objectives of a rapidly growing, international organization. You will be responsible for providing strategic hands-on expertise to help develop several of our physical security program initiatives designed to help create a safe and secure workplace for an organization with over 25,000 employees and operations in Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions.

 

The position will contribute to the strategy and management of the overall global physical security program, recognizing the increasing importance of the management of risk in the environments in which OpenText operates.In this capacity, you will be required to have a strong strategic approach to the development of these programs and maximize the value of centralized services, while working cross-functionally with our regional support teams.

 

You will be a highly accountable leader with a deep passion and understanding of security risk management, and you must be comfortable operating in a demanding and fast-paced environment. A demonstrated ability to effectively influence and interact with senior executive management and functional teams is essential.

 

This position will be based within travel distance of either our Waterloo, ON or Richmond Hill, ON office.

 

WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS

 

  • Develop, execute, and manage strategies for the global security functional programs under your responsibility. This includes physical security risk management, governance and compliance, project management, metrics and audit, organizational preparedness, business support and enablement, security training and awareness.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive risk management framework, focusing on strategic assessment and mitigation of holistic physical security risks.
  • Serve as an advisor for physical risk methodologies and policy/directive consultations within the organization. Liaise with federal, provincial, state, and municipal authorities as it relates to physical risk management and protection of assets and people.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the integration of physical security governance into overall corporate governance structures.
  • Maintain oversight of our enterprise Global Security and Safety policy defining program scope, roles, and responsibilities as well as sub-policies, standards & procedures for security and safety programs.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the performance of the physical security program.
  • Develop and continuously improve a comprehensive security awareness program that aligns with the organization’s overall security strategy and business goals.
  • Coordinate security awareness efforts across global offices and regions, ensuring consistency while accommodating local cultural and regulatory differences.
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among regional security teams.
  • Collaborate in the development of new security programs and assist in the deployment of these programs globally, including the development and maintenance of program policies and processes.
  • As a member of the crisis response team, assist the business continuity/crisis management team during any emergency/crisis.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

 

  • A dynamic, highly motivated thought partner to help develop a clear vision and strategy to deliver comprehensive global safety and security programs along with the ability to execute.
  • Strong business acumen with extensive experience in physical security governance and risk methodology, employee security awareness training.
  • High degree of knowledge with various aspects of global security risk programs, including security systems technology, security incident management, business continuity, travel and event security, executive protection/journey management, GSOC operations, workplace violence prevention and threat assessment, project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the management and implementation of security and risk activities at a strategic and operational level, ensuring activities are globally aligned.
  • High degree of knowledge and operational experience dealing with various aspects of global security programs.
  • Keen interest to understand global issues and geopolitical events.
  • Ability to work successfully leading cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to work across organizational boundaries with stakeholders, globally, at all levels throughout the company to deliver results.
  • Eagerness to implement ongoing change to improve the global security and safety strategic framework.
  • Outstanding relationship management skills and the motivation to work with cross-functional teams in a global environment.
  • Demonstrable record of delivering critical solutions within tight time limits, with multiple stakeholder groups, and competing priorities.
  • Flexibility in work schedule/ability to respond to after-hour or extended events globally.
  • 10+ years of related work experience in a similar role.
  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma/certificate in security management, risk, business, or related field, or equivalent related professional experience.
  • Professional certifications related to the global impact of the role such as CPP, CISM, PSP, PMP.
