The Opportunity

The Senior Manager, DevOps & Site Reliability Engineering requires a seasoned professional with outstanding judgement as well as leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. It requires innovative technology thought leadership and management to maximize the effectiveness of the organization. It also calls for strategic thinking and the use of decision-making authority. Candidates need strong project management experience and the ability to monitor and manage multiple initiatives concurrently, as well as excellent staff management skills. The Senior Manager, DevOps & Site Reliability Engineering contributes to the strategic objectives of the OpenText SMB&C Organization in support of cloud-based production platforms by managing SRE & DevOps team members across multiple geographical zones (USA, Canada). Leading with the development of CICD automation pipelines for applications and infrastructure supporting SMB&C software release management process.


You Are Great At

  • Deploying, automating, maintaining, and managing on-premise and public cloud-based stage and production systems.
  • Ensuring critical system security using best-in-class cloud security solutions.
  • Maintain 24x7 production environment with a high level of service availability. Perform quality reviews, manage operational issues.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to SRE & DevOps staff that are responsible for automation, uptime and reliability for core applications and services.
  • Partner with Dev/QA/OPS teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture and automation for release management and helping to define automation strategies and standards.
  • System troubleshooting and problem-solving across platform and application domains.
  • Evaluate new technology options and vendor products.
  • Ensuring critical system security using best-in-class cloud security solutions.


What It Takes

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and equivalent practical experience.
  • Be a DevOps Practice evangelist.
  • 5+ years working as a Developer.
  • 3+ year experience in overall IT cloud operation environment.
  • 5+ years of proven leadership and management experience in support and development of a distributed DevOps team, developing CICD pipelines for application automation.
  • Proven ability to design, deliver, measure, and manage hybrid cloud environments across 2k+ systems.
  • Mandatory 3+ years hands-on technical experience with automation/configuration management tools using Ansible and/or Chef for large scale environments.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud services including microservices, containers.
  • Deep understanding of the software delivery process with the ability to implement and enforce processes across the organization.
  • Excellent project management skills. Understand the difference between Waterfall, Agile, Scrum to effectively strike the right balance. Especially Agile, Scrum methodology.
  • Experience with public cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a must.
  • Mandatory 3+ years technical hands-on experience in developing automation using Jenkins as orchestration tool, Github, Artifactory, Terraform, Fortify, Checkmarx.
  • Strong scripting skills: e.g. PowerShell, Groovy, Python, Java, C++, and automation skills.
  • Technical experience on Operating Systems: Windows and Linux system administration.
  • Monitoring Tools: Experience with system monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Zabbix, New Relic, Grafana.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to analyze and resolve complex infrastructure and application deployment issues.
  • Deep understanding of version control systems in GitHub including branching and merging processes focusing on automation and development strategies.
