The Opportunity:
The Sr. Manager of Cloud Database Administration will report to the Sr. Director of Cloud Service Delivery for Backing Services and Databases. You will manage a team of globally located Database Administrators and will be responsible for driving success for the solutions servicing the global commercial and lab environments for OpenText products.
We are looking for an objectives-driven, hands-on leader who is detail-oriented, time and cost-conscious, and a talented innovator. You will demonstrate an exceptional level of team building and the intuition to recognize and direct the varying elements of project and personnel demands that drive a successful technology company forward. You have the ability to make sound decisions after carefully gathering and evaluating the facts.
You will interact with professional services teams, product managers, application engineers, and product developers around the world to deliver highly reliable and scalable services that our enterprise customers can depend on. You’ll work in a fast-paced organization while quickly learning new skills and creating ways to consistently meet service-level agreements for our global cloud services.
You are Great At
- Lead a team of database engineers that are responsible for delivering and supporting PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server technologies that OpenText customer facing products are dependent on
- Continuously working on developing staff through training initiatives
- Identifying and resolving team conflicts and eliminating obstacles affecting performance.
- Providing guidance and motivation for team to achieve goals outlined in established policies.
- Providing technical or project management direction
- Prioritizing time against project lists in a changing environment
- Researching and recommending improvements to current processes and procedures and providing input on global direction
- Communicating departmental requirements and working effectively with other internal departments
- Managing, training, and developing staff, ensuring high levels of employee engagement and the opportunity for upward growth with increased responsibility
- Ensuring the quality of the commercial database builds
- Regularly assessing team compliance with established policies and procedures
What It Takes
- Minimum 7 years of team management experience in a medium to large enterprise, preferably with an international presence
- Experience managing employees in diverse geographic regions
- Sound understanding of database technologies including (but not limited to) PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server
- The ideal candidate should have experience working for a company in the technology sector
- Must be able to guide teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Must be able to provide a technical representation of issues and ideas in meetings with peers
- Strong and current experience in database technologies
- Proven ability to manage diverse, simultaneous tasks and projects of varying complexities
- Literate, communicative, client-friendly, and flexible
- Able to function rationally and methodically during periods of heightened stress
