Vice President, Pricing

OpenText is looking for a highly energetic and strategic business leader to own the Pricing and Release Management organization for the company. This individual will be responsible for developing and accelerating a high-growth pricing strategy across all revenue lines: License, Cloud, Customer Support, and Professional Services. They will also be responsible for the team and the processes for releasing software to end user customers.

We are searching for an executive who brings extensive experience from the enterprise software industry. This individual will need to work across functions to develop and implement the models, governance, policies and processes needed to bring new thinking and fresh insight that maximizes business value and drives sales and profitability.


This will be a high-visibility role reporting directly into the Senior Vice President of Revenue Operations, who is a direct report to the CEO. This is an opportunity to partner with our Executive Leadership team to transform and evolve pricing and release management strategy. Pricing is, in particular, an integral lever to accelerate revenue growth. It touches nearly every part of our business and is a critical part of our customer experience.

You will inventory and assess our current pricing and release management strategy and cadence, analyze their effectiveness, and propose new ways of approaching and managing these areas.  You will own and refresh our pricing and release management strategy and create new visibility and analysis to allow for complete thinking across the business.

You must be comfortable immersing yourself in data to ensure that customer needs, financial objectives and product requirements are aligned to our approach. You will operate with conviction and partner extensively with cross functional teams to gain alignment and enable execution. You have the ability to persuade others with a data-driven approach, partner extensively with Product GMs and Sales leaders, and the ability to manage a team of high achieving individuals.

•    Pricing strategy and execution across all product lines at OpenText
•    Cultivate an exceptional team to that drives excellence and growth
•    Work with the company's executive leadership to define, launch, and drive strategic and operational initiatives around pricing strategy and release management.
•    Drive recommendations through to implementation and results
•    Collaborate across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Analytics and Finance
•    Develop insights and recommendations through customer segmentation, price discovery, testing & experimentation, and ROI analyses
•    Oversee all operational aspects of pricing implementation, including billing requirements, discounting frameworks, and ongoing monitoring
•    Devise automated and scalable means of measuring pricing performance
•    Monitor key metrics and market intelligence to derive insights and identify opportunities for evolving pricing
•    Codify a set of best practices and processes that can be used to drive ongoing pricing improvement


Measurable Scorecard:
Critically, the leader of this team will guide the company through the process of answering the following questions:
•    What value are we creating for our customers and partners across our product suite?
•    How should we segment the market to best understand value delivery and value capture?
•    Where are the growth opportunities and what is the best strategy to approach this? 
•    Which new markets or opportunities should we pursue? Why? 
•    How should we configure the portfolio of products to best serve the different segments in the market? What new product or pricing initiatives should we consider?
•    How should the pricing strategy evolve throughout the lifetime of the products and adapt to changes in the market?
•    What are the optimal pricing & packaging models to maximize adoption and monetization of portfolio?


Waterloo (preferred as the team is located there), Toronto, or Richmond Hill, Ontario.  Would consider Bay Area for the right candidate.


•    10+ years of pricing experience, particularly in the enterprise software 
•    Strong leader with proven ability to motivate, mentor and lead teams
•    Strong analytical skills – expert in statistical analysis
•    Excellent team leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to persuade, communicate vision and motivate people at every level, cooperative working style
•    Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills


•    Advanced degree or demonstrable equivalent with a focus in Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Applied Math, or any other related field
