THE OPPORTUNITY
For this new position, we are looking for a travel security and risk professional with international experience who understands the strategic objectives of a rapidly growing, international organization. The Workplace Security Manager will be responsible for providing strategic and operational hands-on expertise to help develop and manage our travel security and risk program designed to help create safe and secure travel for an organization with over 25,000 employees and operations in Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Lead the design and implementation of our travel security and risk program leveraging best practices from previous roles and using current industry standards.
- Develop appropriate dashboards and metrics to measure performance and to keep leadership apprised of security matters.
- Develop tools and methodologies to assess, mitigate and monitor global risk to OpenText senior executives and business travelers.
- Actively support our executive security initiatives.
- Ensure requests for assistance are managed in a timely and effective manner, serving as a first point of contact for employees travelling to high-risk destinations.
- Respond to and assess security incidents globally, including incidents of terrorism, civil unrest, natural disaster, or criminal which may affect our business travelers to mitigate risk and ensure safety.
- Oversee global third-party security services contracts and vendor management aligned with area of responsibility.
- Develop and implement global best practices for security training and awareness programs.
- Undertake geopolitical risk analysis for the physical security team to review country risk ratings as needed.
- Maintain awareness of new and existing global offices to ensure evolving threats and conditions remain appropriately addressed by the physical security programs.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with domestic and international law enforcement, private sector peers worldwide and internal, external stakeholders in support of program initiatives.
- As a member of the crisis response team, assist the business continuity/crisis management team during any emergency/crisis.
WHAT IT TAKES:
- 5+ years of operational security experience in a corporate environment.
- Global situational awareness and a strong understanding of geopolitics, international security, and current affairs.
- Proven travel security and risk knowledge, principles, and practices, with experience operating across high-risk environments.
- Operational experience dealing with various aspects of global security programs such as threat/risk assessment and mitigation, security incident management, travel risk management and event security, executive protection/journey management.
- A proven proficiency of OSINT and the full intelligence cycle as well as the ability to effectively compile security assessments and intelligence reports.
- Must be capable of handling highly confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to contribute to other pillars of the physical security program by active collaboration and support.
- A positive attitude and ready to tackle tasks related to a fast-growing company.
- A willingness to work outside normal business hours as needed to support a 24/7 GSOC environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and strong business acumen with good analytical skills and vendor management experience.
- A service-oriented/customer-driven approach.
- Ability to travel internationally if required to support security services initiatives.
This position will be based within travel distance of either our Waterloo, ON or Richmond Hill, ON office.
